How Sweet it is! And when he ran, they start to chase For his depression they could taste They asked and asked with all their pride But when they asked, he only lied they tried so hard to find his case And before long, they stop their chase But when he wanted loose ends tied He found the swans were hard to find Koreigh Harkless Grade 8, Edison Middle School

Punch I wonder why you’d punch me in my eye I really think I’m just about to cry Although my father said to punch you back I really truly hope I don’t hold back If you tried to tell I would just deny I’m really happy you’re a little guy I just picture you as my punching sack When it’s over please don’t take my snack Sydnie Dye

Snow

Grade 8, Edison Middle School

I peer out my frosty window Wrap’d in my cozious blanket Ribbon-like clowds gray and heavy Snow is looming above the world

Christmas

One small frosty flake dancing now Floating down on the cold morning air Twirling, swirling, twisting, falling A world of white from the window The wind doth blow and yet it snows The sun shan’t heat the world below Shivery cold, yet I am warm I sit and watch through the window. Christmas Gap The twinkling lights upon the tree, the warmth of family close to me. The snow upon the midnight moon, All knowing Santa’s coming soon. But there will be a gap this year, I know that you are no where near. Across the ocean you will be, protecting ev’ry one and me. I know it must be hard for you, But I thank you for what you do. I can’t wait for that night to come, But knowing there will not be some. I can’t wait for the next year ‘round, for you to kiss my head with sound. I wish you happy holidays, though you won’t be there on those days. I know Santa can still find you, But I wish you could be here too. When you come home they’ll be balloons, Just hurry up and come back soon! Jordan Flinn

The best time of the year is very, very near Snowball fights, Frostbite’s bite And putting up the Christmas lights Jolly Old Saint Nickolas Has been waiting for Christmas To give the good kids gifts Up in his reindeer sleigh, alift. Mikenzi Snyder Grade 8, Edison Middle School

Flowers Flowers are pretty and bright. The petals are blooming so free. The colors shine so light. The leaves spread like the trees. The stems glow as they bloom. The smells of the flowers are sweet. The petals wash out the gloom. The birds are cute, as they tweet. Brooke Parish Grade 8, Edison Middle School

Fish A little fish under the sea, Was swimming oh so gracefully. Until he swam into the dark, Not knowing he was in a shark. He fell right for the monsters’ trick, But thankfully, this fish was quick. He swam right out into the light, Avoiding its tremendous bite. Lauren Deitrick Grade 8, Edison Middle School
