The Tree

Page 1

Draw a tree

Why?

What kind of tree are you?

Why?

What season are you in?

What is giving you security and stability?

What is nourishing your roots?

Whose lives are you enhancing?

Who is playing in your branches?

Who are you supporting?

The birds of the air which rest in your shade... Your branches reaching out to the sky... Bark knocked off, rotten wood, fungus... Winds which blow... Sunshine...

What are your hopes, dreams, aspirations?

What parts yourself you struggle with?

What challenges do you face? What brings joy and warmth and light to your life? What refreshes you?

Rain... Flowers and fruit...

What good is coming out of your life at the moment? What potential is there? How do you hope to be fruitful to others in life?

How does God look at your tree?

I think that I shall never see, A poem lovely as a tree A tree whose mouth is hungry prest, Against the earth's sweet flowering breast A tree that looks at God all day, And lifts her leafy arms to pray, A tree that may in summer wear A nest of robins in her hair, Upon whose bosom snow has lain, Who intimately lives with rain Poems are made by fools like me, But only God can make a tree.
