Banding Together Students take band for many different reasons whether it is for fun or for academic purposes . Some students take it to help make college applications look better. Junior Shep Walker hinted at such when he said: "Band is great and I know that colleges like to see a diversity of activities." Of course every year their hard work is paid off, especially this year with the class trip on a cru ise to the Bahamas. Senior Adam Ferralli admitted that he liked band because of "The music and the awesome trips ." While many people may think that all the band 50

does is perform at halftime; Albemarle offers several different classes including: wind ensemble , percussion ensemble, and jazz band. Hundreds of students take band and help raise money for trips and competitions. Their performances at football games are merely a practice run for the big competition at the end. The band competes in several competitions throughout the fall , and have developed a reputation for being one of the best in the state. By: Cyndi Amaya
