New program combines two approaches The English department was designed this year to deliver the best of two worlds. A semester-long program of American and English literature, followed by a semester of electives combined to better fulfill student interests and needs. An Advanced Placement class was also instituted to answer the needs of the academically gifted. Individual classes were also able to attend productions given by the Virginia Museum, tour the University of Virginia's Rare Book Room , and talk to poet, Ric Masten.
