‘We all have our time machines. Some take us back, they’re called memories. Some take us forward, they’re called dreams.’

JEREMY IRONS

We really cannot believe our time at the College is coming to a close. It feels like yesterday that we were little Year Sevens walking through the gates for the very first time in 2016. We were full of nerves and excitement about starting a new chapter of our lives, and here we are five years later with the same feelings about moving on from high school into tertiary education.

Although high school has had its ups and downs (especially over the past two years) we are beyond grateful for all the important lessons we have learned at the College. From valuable lifelong skills, to learning that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell, we really have gained so much and are eternally grateful. Some of our highlights from our time at the College consist of the yearly musicals that we both loved performing in, as well as the 2019 Italy study tour that we were fortunate enough to go on. We will never forget the amazing host families that welcomed us into their homes with open arms.

It definitely is a bittersweet feeling to be passing on our Prefect roles to the new generation of College Prefects, although we are positive they will do an amazing job following in the footsteps of Catherine McAuley. No matter what challenges the class of 2022 may face, we wish them the best of luck with their studies, and hope they create lifelong memories like we have. We are both looking forward to next year and what the future holds for us, although the uncertainty is nerve racking yet exhilarating at the same time. Words will never be able to describe how thankful we are for all the staff and teachers’ hard work and dedication over the past five years. We will never forget everything you have done for us.

It feels strange to think that we will soon be alumni of the College, and not current students of Saint Aloysius, but we are both so proud and grateful to have been able to represent the College in our final year, and we will always carry Saint Aloysius in our hearts.
