This grade II listed landmark building was built in 1911 by Samuel Ryder, donor of Golf’s prestigious Ryder Cup, to house the business offices of his successful seed company. The hotel retains many original features including leaded light room screens, sweeping staircase and a magnificent mahogany and stained glass dome. Ryder’s original fireplace surround, complete with hand carved initials still stands in his private office which is now the principal meeting room. The Comfort Hotel St Albans is situated in the heart of St Albans historic City Centre, opposite the magnificent Abbey and close to excellent shopping, restaurants and traditional pubs. The M25 and M1 are just minutes away and central London can be reached within 25 minutes.

Our modern contemporary hotel has recently been redesigned to maximise comfort, offering 60 en-suite bedrooms with new bathrooms. New facilities also include Hypnos beds, 32-inch flat-screen televisions with Freeview, free high-speed internet access and there is ample free car parking for hotel guests too. The Hotel hosts three self contained Meeting and Conference rooms which can accommodate from two to 40 delegates. All rooms have air-conditioning and natural day light. Our stylish new restaurant is open for full English buffet breakfast service daily. We cater for private parties over the weekend and indeed during the week, for any event from company courses through to dinner parties, Christenings and any social event.
