BUY SMART COMPETITION
Buy y S ma r t Bu C o mp etitio n The Buy Smart Competition, run by the Office of Fair Trading, endeavours to assist students to become more informed consumers who can better identify consumer-related risks. Business students in Years 9 and 10 took an entrepreneurial thinking approach in preparing entries for the competition. They empathised and researched the risks associated with scams, limited financial capability and inadequate knowledge of consumer rights to build and develop solutions to educate a variety of audiences to become more informed consumers. Projects included videos, websites, board games, brochures, interactive quizzes and children’s books. Three teams from Years 9 and 10 were selected as finalists in the statewide competition and attended a ceremony at Parliament House in November. Awards and prizemoney were presented by Attorney-General Yvette D’Ath who commented on the “impressive knowledge of consumer issues” showcased by our students.
