Uniforms Because of its foundations with the Sisters of the Society of the Sacred Advent, the St Aidan’s uniform was initially identical to its Sister School, St Margaret’s – navy blue skirt and bodice and middy top with a detachable white collar and a laced-up necklace. The sports uniform was memorably modest – a white long-sleeved shirt and school tie, brown box-pleated pinafore, bloomers and stockings. A bandana was worn with ST A emblazoned on the front when competing in interschool sports. The sports uniform remained unchanged, except the hemlines went up and down, until the mid1970s when there was a rethinking of the uniforms overall and changes were made to the sports uniform, winter uniform and style of the summer uniform dress. A light brown tunic sports dress with side splits and tied with a cloth striped belt and worn with matching bloomers was introduced with short socks. This uniform provided more freedom and comfort for the girls to move and perform their sports, and was worn by a decade’s worth of students. The distinctive St Aidan’s uniform now consists of the ink navy “Blues” dress, with white collar and brown “shoelace” tie. Brown leather shoes, brown ankle socks and rounded panama hat complete the uniform ensemble.
