Fran Daly SJ first came to St. X in August of 1966 as a young Jesuit scholastic and taught Latin and History for three years. He was a moderator for Sodality [CLC] and worked in the Summer Enrichment Program. He returned to St. X in January of 1998 to become rector/superior of the Jesuit community and worked closely with principal Dave Mueller and presidents Bill Verbryke SJ and Walter Deye SJ, as part of the leadership team of St. X. During that time, he served on the Board of Trustees from 1998-2005, taught seniors an elective course on the Philosophy of the Human Person and worked with Mike Daley and Mike Brophy SJ in Adult Faith. In 2006, Fr. Daly became Director of Ignatian Formation for faculty, staff, and parents. He continued to work with Mike Daley in Adult Faith and began to assist former assistant principal and then Principal Bill Sandquist in the Five-Year Ignatian Formation Program for new faculty and staff. Daly speaks of his time fondly, “Throughout my time at St. X, I served on the Catholic Jesuit Identity committee of the Board and have been blessed to help organize the Annual Faculty-Staff retreat as well as share the Spiritual Exercises in ‘Busy Person’s Retreats’ with the St. X community. It has been a privilege to participate in Kairos retreats and celebrate school Liturgies over the years.” In Late August, 2014 Fr. Daly will become the Director of Manresa Jesuit Retreat House in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. Manresa is a 40 acre spiritual center that offers a variety of programs based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius. He continued to work with Mike Daley in Adult Faith and began to assist former Assistant Principal/Principal Bill Sandquist in the Five-Year Ignatian Formation Program for new faculty and staff.
