WELCOME

St. Rita School is one of the largest Catholic elementary schools in the Hartford Archdiocese, serving over 300 students in pre-kindergarten through the 8th grade. For over three generations, we have welcomed all families who want to provide their children with the excellent academic program, nurturing environment, and spiritual foundation of a Catholic education. Our highly qualified faculty and staff are dedicated to helping students reach their full potential. Since our founding in 1956, our students have been deeply involved in our parish and our community. They learn early on the importance and satisfaction of serving and enriching the lives of others.

As your children grow, the SRS community nourishes and inspires their minds, their hearts and their souls. We are proud parents of three SRS students who have flourished in their own ways. St. Rita School is truly the place to be in the Greater New Haven area. MaryLee, parent

“I love St. Rita School – I grew up at this school – I started here in pre-kindergarten and now entering 7th grade. I met my best friend here too. The teachers always push you to be better – to work harder – and never settle. I have so many memories here – from being on the basketball team, to working on class projects to being a junior counselor at the school’s camp. I feel so lucky to be a student here – thanks mom and dad for finding this school!” Brendan, 7th grade

Being a member of the St. Rita School community is like belonging to an extended family. The teachers, faculty, parents and kids all care, love and only want the best for each other. We have a truly special community at this school – one that my family and I will always treasure. Debora, parent

SRS has been a wonderful place for my children to grow and learn‌ Full of love and many great opportunities academically, socially and spiritually! Nancy, parent

RELIGION

Our Catholic values of faith in God, love of Jesus, and respect and care for one another are woven into all aspects of school life. Students, faculty, and staff pray together daily as a faith community, and participate in other faith-based activities such as First Friday Masses. Prayer services are also held regularly in recognition of important occasions. When I am at SRS I am safe, happy and loved. Juliana, 2nd grade

It has become evident to me as I have grown through the grades that the 8th graders are role models, showing compassion and love. I now have to inherit that, with the faculty and staff. Nucci, 8th grade

ACADEMICS

The challenging and well-rounded academic program fully prepares children for living and learning in the 21st century. Small class sizes and highly individualized attention support each child’s learning style. Academic remediation and accelerated learning opportunities are available to ensure all students reach their full potential. In high school, many of our graduates place at the most challenging academic levels. Students can study Spanish beginning in Pre-K and continuing through 8th grade.

From the first time we stepped foot into St.Rita School, it felt like home. The teachers are dedicated to their calling of laying the educational groundwork for our future leaders. The faith-based community of St. Rita School is so warm and welcoming. We are thankful that our son is part of such a wonderful school, based on family, faith, love, respect, and learning. What more can you ask for! Emily & Dan, parents

I love SRS because it’s fun! Morgan, pre-k

What I like best about SRS is that every teacher is very nice. Kara, 2nd grade

PRE-KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM

St. Rita’s Pre-K program stimulates and nurtures spiritual, intellectual, social, and emotional growth with individual and group activities tailored to each child’s needs and learning capacity. The three-year-old program builds self-esteem, fosters an interest in learning, and develops social skills in preparation for the four-year-old program. In the four-year-old program, children acquire the learning and social skills for successful transition into kindergarten.

SRS provides a loving and nurturing environment where my children are eager to learn. Trisha, parent

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Helping those in need is central to our faith. All students participate in community service and charitable events throughout the year to benefit individuals and families in Greater New Haven as well as in our worldwide community. Events include food, clothing, and toy drives. As a school, we also raise funds for civic and community organizations.

From our first visit to St. Rita School’s Pre-Kindergarten, we knew this was the right school for our daughter. In addition to outstanding academics and skilled teachers and staff, the students show exemplary character in their everyday lives. St. Rita School is a community to be proud of. Tina, parent

CLUBS AND FINE ARTS

Co-curricular activities enhance the academic experience and create a sense of camaraderie. Our activities and clubs include: National Junior Honor Society, the school newspaper and yearbook, a mock trial program, a technology club, and student council. Students can participate in programs such as GlobalEd (a partnership with UConn) and Invention Convention. Students can also explore the performing arts through our annual school musical, band and instrument instruction, and the school chorus.

St. Rita is truly the place to be! It’s family – our second home. Sandy, parent

I am learning and having fun every day at St. Rita School. Ryan, 2nd grade

ATHLETICS

Our commitment to educating the whole child includes attention to the body as well as the mind and spirit. Students participate in wellness activities, and regular exercise through physical education classes and daily recess. Students in grades 5 through 8 may participate in team sports and other athletic pursuits. Through sports, students experience teamwork, fair play, selfdiscipline, achievement of goals, and the value of healthy competition — important lessons for students of all athletic abilities.

TECHNOLOGY

St. Rita School fully integrates technology into classroom learning. Students have access to iPads during each school day, as well as to Chrome computers and Smart Board technology. They learn how to use a wide range of programs and techniques for communication, collaboration, and creativity.

The teachers are so wonderful. They always go above and care about each student and their individual needs. Megan, parent
