WHO WE ARE MEANT TO BE

announcements WORSHIP…

LENT GROUPS James Bryan Smith’s book The Good and Beautiful Life will be the blueprint for our Lenten season this year. We’ll learn from Jesus’ words in the Sermon on the Mount, be transformed through spiritual practices, and do this in community through groups. All Lenten Small Groups will be meeting via Zoom. Leaders will provide you with the information prior to the first meeting. If you register for a Lenten Small Group by February 10, you will receive a Lent at Home Kit to bring to the group and worship experiences throughout Lent. Learn more and sign up at stlukesumc.com/lent.

ASH WEDNESDAY Wednesday, Feb 17 • 7PM • Online Services • 12 & 7PM Drive-Up Imposition of Ashes • 8-9AM, 1-2PM, 5-6PM Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Ash Wednesday emphasizes two themes: our sinfulness before God and our human mortality. The imposition of ashes, a long-standing practice in Lenten worship (in the form of a cross on the forehead), signifies mortality and repentance and represents purification and sorrow for sins. We invite you to use the ashes from your Lent-at-Home kit to impose ashes at home or stop by the church to have a pastor impose the ashes at a drive-through station. Learn more at stlukesumc.com/lent. LEADING LENT AT HOME Saturday, Feb 20 • 9:30-10AM • Zoom We want to help parents lead their families in their spiritual development! And, engaging with the Spiritual Practices we will be highlighting each week in worship is a simple way to start. Join this 30-minute Zoom as members of our Parent Engagement Team give practical ways to live out these practices in your family. Pre-Register to receive Zoom link and email Pastor Mindie with questions. Sign up here: stlukesumc.com/lent.
