The Gnome. Children playing in the Tuileries. The Great Gate of Kiev. These paintings come to life in Ravel’s vivid and colourful orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition. But first, Lan Shui brings you a heartfelt rendition of Death and Transfiguration, and the intense Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto featuring rising violinist Sayaka Shoji.
Expect some of the most sublime and spiritually uplifting music with Anton Bruckner’s magnificent Mass No. 3 in F minor, in this sensational performance directed by Lim Yau. Opening the concert is Estonian composer Arvo Pärt’s Te Deum, which Pärt described as “immeasurable serenity imparted by a mountain panorama”.
