Sebastian Cox and NinelaIvanova from London use mushroom mycelium to make lamps and stools. These furniture are handmade from waste willow cut into frames and later woven together to make moulds. Once the mould is ready the fungus is bred inside to form lampshades. Industrial waste to tableware Toxic red sand derived from aluminum production is recycled to form ceramic tableware. The industrial waste is used to make plates, cups, teapots, vessels and more. It is an effort to create awareness on the valuable reuse of secondary waste materials. Other eco-friendly design materials Bamboo: Bamboo has excellent re-growth potential. It can be cut without causing any damage to the roots, facilitatingregrowth. Bamboo is used to make roof, flooring and furniture. Cork: Oak tree is used to make corks and it has excellent anit-microbial properties. Cork is water resistant and it has no harmful ingredients like formaldehyde or PVC, hence can be safely used to make flooring and other decorative pieces. Woven bamboo: The bamboo strips are used to created strand woven flooring that is highly durable in comparison with oak and is 2.5 times harder than the latter. Coconut shells: These have immense value and come handy for various decoration use. In combination with wooden frames, coconut shells are used to make hard flooring. Beware not to use it in place that is in constant contact with water and food. Eco-paint: You can paint your home using eco-friendly products like wheat, rice, potato and rye flour. This can be mixed with mica powder, fine clay and cut straw for best results.
