My Amazing Machine WRITTEN AND ILLUSTRATED BY Alyssa Scanga
It was a hot day in Alexis’ yard. She was busy building again. This time, it was an ice cream machine.
Alexis reached for her hammer but grabbed Matt’s foot instead. Matt was a boy in her class. She disliked him. ‘‘What are you doing?’’ asked Matt. ‘‘I’m building an ice cream machine.’’ said Alexis.
‘‘You can’t build an ice cream machine.’’ said Matt. ‘‘Can too.’’ said Alexis. ‘‘Can not. I’m telling everyone your cuckoo.’’ said Matt. Alexis watched, discouraged, as Matt walked away.
Alexis’ friend Sally came up to her, followed by her little sister Miranda. ‘‘What are you doing? asked Sally. ‘‘Building a ice cream machine.’’ said Alexis. ‘‘Want to help?’’ ‘ ‘Sure.’’ said Sally. Alexis gave Sally a list of parts. Sally left to collect them.
Sally came back with the parts. They continue building. “Others came to discourage me while you were gone, Sally.’’ said Alexis. “We’ll show them we can do it.’’ said Sally. Mindy came over and discouraged them even more.
Alexis needed more parts. She asked Sally to go get them. Sally left to get them right away. Alexis continued building.
When Sally came back they continued building. They just needed a toilet paper tube. Just then Miranda walked by with a...
... toilet paper tube! She handed it to Alexis. The machine was done! It works! They get all the ice cream they want!
Matt and Mindy came along and asked for some. Sally glanced at Alexis. They both knew that Matt and Mindy both dislike pistachio. Alexis smiles, well...
Alexis and Sally give Matt and Mindy a huge scoop of pistachio. That will teach them a lesson!
