Paving the Way to Extraordinary

The theme for this issue causes me to reflect on one of our recent chapel services. The homily of that chapel touched on a scene from the popular children’s movie Trolls that involved a lesson that is pertinent not only to "St. Philip’s offers children but also to most an unparalleled adults. The movie Trolls attempts to drive home experience to our the notion that happiness students that not is inside each of us. It only enables them to acknowledges that there embrace their potential are times in which others to be extraordinary can help us to come to that realization. but also helps them to acknowledge that St. Philip’s offers an as children of God, unparalleled experience EXTRAORDINARY is to our students that not already inside of them.only enables them to embrace their potential to be extraordinary but also helps them to acknowledge that as children of God, EXTRAORDINARY is already inside of them. In fact, we guide our students to gain a glimpse of the existence of a supernatural power that allows them to forge through life’s challenges. Our faculty and staff refute the notion that our students are products of their environment. Far too many of us are walking, living testimonies of the opposite. In fact, we have daily evidence of students and community residents overcoming dire circumstances, conditions, and conflicts. As you browse through this edition of our magazine, do so with this quote in mind: “there are many reasons but no excuses.” We teach our students and promote within the surrounding community, that despite inequity, or even injustices, THEY MUST PRESS ON. This affirmation is taught under the premise that our students do not have to do this alone. They have a village and a community present to support them, but most importantly, they have a higher power to lean on. For this reason, at St. Philip’s School & Community Center, we teach values, we build character, and we demand integrity.
