Jerry Hughes, S.J. ’54 Rev. Jerry Hughes, S.J., received a degree in mathematics from Spring Hill College in 1954. He served at Spring Hill as a teacher and coach before entering the Society of Jesus on Aug. 14, 1977. Fr. Hughes was ordained a priest on June 8, 1985 in St. Joseph Chapel. He served as athletic director at Spring Hill from 1990 to 1995. He served as pastor in St. Rita Parish in Dallas, Texas from 1995 to 2002. Fr. Hughes resided at Spring Hill from 2002 to 2004 prior to moving to New Orleans.

AlumniNews Dabbs Named Director of Alumni Programs Sally “Scootie” Lambert Dabbs was named director of alumni programs at Spring Hill College on July 8. “I am thrilled to be given the opportunity to serve as director of alumni programs at Spring Hill College. This is an exciting time at Spring Hill, and I am honored to be a part of it,” Dabbs said. “I have never met a more dedicated and committed group of alumni, and I am looking forward to what the future holds for alumni programs.” Dabbs joined the staff at Spring Hill College in July 2005 as assistant director of alumni programs. She also serves on

the administrative staff committee at Spring Hill and is the incoming chairperson for the 2008-2009 committee. “Through her work with our alumni classes and chapter development during the past three years, Scootie understands the issues that interest and matter to our alumni,” said Ed Overbey, vice president for advancement. “She has a talent for keeping our alumni excited about the College and engaged in what is going on at Spring Hill.” In addition, Dabbs volunteers with several local organizations including: the Young Professionals board for United Cerebral Palsy, University of Alabama Alumni Board, University of Alabama Alumni Association’s Mobile Chapter, American Cancer Society Chili Cook-off, Junior League of Mobile, Kappa Alpha Theta, and Delta Omicron Chapter. Dabbs earned a Bachelor of Arts in history from the University of Alabama in 2000. Prior to joining the staff at Spring Hill College, Dabbs served as assistant director of admissions for her high school alma mater, West Nottingham Academy, in Colora, Md.
