Fashion photography is a distinct genre that calls for a certain set of abilities and information. It is a very competitive sector, thus photographers who wish to specialise in it must be prepared to encounter numerous difficulties and roadblocks.

Hi, I am Subham Banerjee, photography company name:- Wi Photography (Instagram Id:- wiphotography official) sharing my journey with all of you. My journey consists of hurdles, failures and smoothness.

Here, comes the 1st chapter of my journey, when I decided that I will start my career as a fashion photographer. So, I gave a good eye for detail, a thorough understanding of fashion and design, and the capacity to capture the soul of a brand or product to succeed as a fashion photographer. I work on my communication skills simultaneously in order to collaborate effectively with models, designers, stylists, and other members of the creative team. After completion of the basic its time to make a portfolio for myself. So I approached to various models. So, here’s come the twist. From July 2020, I started approaching to the models. To my 1st approach till my 1st work I approached approximately 20 models but none replied. The major reason behind it is that at that time I don’t have any business account in any of the social media and I don’t have any work of myself to show the others or more specially the models. When I didn’t get any support for the models I approached to the modelling agencies. They told me that they will help me with model, makeup artist, designer, studio etc .When they tell me the rate of the shoot, I got shocked. There budget is exceeding mine. On the other hand, I keep on trying to contact the models. Unfortunately I can’t. Then, I decided that I will take the help of the modelling agencies, as the time is passing away. Suddenly, a miracle happens a model named Shree Mandal (Instagram Id:- shree_officialid) response in my message. I told her everything and she helped me with 1 extra model, makeup artist, studio and dress. And then I shoot the 1st shoot in fashion photography on 24/03/2022. After that I made a name of my photography company and the name is Wi Photography.

Now, comes the 2nd chapter of my journey. When I am doing regular personal shoots in different fashion categories and with different models, one day Shree told me to send the pictures to the international magazines. Because, she knew that the pictures will get selected. I was undoubtful at that time. But she urged me to do it. So, just for trial I send some pictures to a international magazine name VIGOUR. And lucky my pictures got selected. And from there the addiction of doing editorial photoshoot comes in action. I started doing editorial shoot and submitted my pictures in different international magazines like VIGOUR, UNTOLD, LE DESIR, MAKEDA etc. Some pictures got acceptance and got published whereas , some pictures got rejection. The rejection energies me to work hard, to innovate new concepts, idea etc.

My 3rd chapter or rather the final chapter till now consists of lots of achievement. In this 1 year of my fashion photography journey I achieved a lot. I got photography work different foreign companies. Some I got directly and some through viz. I did still photography for a YouTube fashion video. I also did a photoshoot of the cover page of an international magazine.

In conclusion, my journey in the fashion industry was filled with both struggles and achievements. Actually fashion photography is a highly competitive field and requires a unique set of skills and knowledge. Photographers who wants to choose to pursue this career must be willing to work hard, deliver results quickly, and continuously improve their skills to stay ahead of the competition. However, the rewards can be significant, and with talent, hard work, and perseverance, a photographer can achieve great success in the world of fashion photography.
