Welcome to SHETLAND RACE 2023
Some of the participants are crossing the North Sea for the first time, I am sure you are excited. Many of you have participated many times before, and some of you have joined the regatta for many times. We welcome you all.
On Shetland you will be welcomed by our local committee in Lerwick. We are very grateful for the excellent service and hospitality provided by the local community and the Shetland committee. We hope you all look froward to an unforgettable time on the fantastic Island, Shetland. Please post pictures on Instagram: #shetlandrace23# the best pictures will be rewarded.

Remember to report your position on VHF during the regatta and contact Lerwick Port Authority on channel 12 when arriving Lerwick, they will give you instructions. We look forward to welcoming the captains to Registration & Captains meeting, including a weather briefing and a recommended race-strategy from one of Norway’s most experienced sailors; Mr. Christen With from With Marine and Norths Sails Norway. Meeting will take place at The Bergen Børs Hotel. We hope the Shetland Race will give you fair competition. Remember to take good care of each other onboard, safety first. We urge you all to avoid accidents on people or equipment. May the best sailors win.

The Shetland based Committee for the annual Shetland Race welcomes all the yachts and crew in the 2023 Race. This will be the 35th time the Race has crossed the North Sea and we look forward to meeting old friends and new.

We are once again ready to help you enjoy your time in Shetland. As usual, our volunteers at the Race Office on Victoria Pier in Lerwick will greet your arrival and be on hand for any assistance needed. A highlight is our prizegiving event on the Friday evening at Mareel, the Lerwick venue, with welcome support from our sponsors.
