Lambretta is the story about the birth of an Icon. Fernando Innocenti had a steel tubing factory in Lambrate area of Milan, Italy producing components for the Air force industry, during the Second World War. After the war he needed a new product to continue his business. The scooter was genius. A low cost, reliable and fun transportation for the people after the war. Lambretta improved the quality of life for many, both in Italy and throughout the world. The scooters where produced in Italy from 1947 to 1971. The second success was in the swinging 60´s when young people in London with the love for Italian fashion became enchanted by the scooter. They called themselves MODS and the Lambretta became an icon for their way of life. The scooter was again a low cost, reliable and fun transportation when MODS needed to get to the nightclubs . Even today the name Lambretta is synonymous with the original Modmobile; the Lambretta Scooter, and the distinctive Italian influenced style of that era.
