Just one season after banjo virtuoso Béla Fleck played Spartanburg, we bring you a mandolin prodigy whose third album was produced by Fleck himself. By the tender age of 12, Tennessee-bred singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Sierra Hull had already played the Grand Ole Opry and Carnegie Hall, and has been delighting audiences ever since with her rich voice and mastery of the mandolin. Now, husband Justin Moses joins Sierra for a exclusive one-nightonly duet of Bluegrass standards along with Hull’s own songs. As a premiere picker on the bluegrass scene, Justin has played with Ricky Skaggs, Dan Tyminski, Blue Highway, and The Gibson Brothers. You’ll be captivated as he changes between guitar, mandolin, banjo, fiddle, and dobro while Sierra alternates between guitar and mandolin. Join us for an unforgettable night of bluegrass music under the stars!
Bluegrass Spartanburg presents both international and local award-winning bluegrass bands in its four-show series. In 2015, a small group of bluegrass fans living in Spartanburg partnered with the Chapman Cultural Center to bring world-class bands to our hometown. The pilot season was such a success that they sought to expand with the help, experience, and leadership of the Spartanburg Philharmonic.

In the fall of 2017, in partnership with the Philharmonic, the series relaunched as“Bluegrass Spartanburg” and has seen enormous success ever since. Bluegrass Spartanburg hopes to continually offer its fans the opportunity to enjoy outstanding bluegrass music in the Upstate.

Fireside Collective has been on a roll since emerging five years ago from the fertile music scene of Asheville, North Carolina. In quick order, the progressive bluegrass group released its debut album, won the 2016 Band Contest at MerleFest, and earned an International Bluegrass Music Association Momentum Band of the Year nomination. Blending the characteristic interplay of bluegrass instrumentation and harmonies with strong original material and exuberant energy, Fireside Collective has drawn on folk, blues, funk and a wide variety of bluegrass sounds to create a distinctive body of work that’s all their own.
