“Ballet Spartanburg is very excited to be a part of this holiday concert, featuring the beauty and talent of Spartanburg’s musicians, dancers, actors, and artists. We are pleased to present a scene from our beloved Nutcracker, and we look forward to next year, when we can come together in the concert hall for a live production of the full ballet. I know audiences will be totally captivated by the experience of hearing Tchaikovsky’s memorable score live as the story unfolds on the stage.”

Carlos Agudelo Ballet Spartanburg, Artistic Director

Simone Mack-Orr

Simone is a native of Spartanburg and has always had a love for music starting with singing then on to playing the violin. Her performance in the Spartanburg Little Theatre’s presentation of The Civil War demonstrated her extraordinary talent and musical abilities in a new way. She went on to perform as a part of Ballet Spartanburg’s Dance Energy series and continues to sing and perform with both organizations as well as sitting on the board for the Little Theatre.

Simone is currently the General Manager of CycleBar in downtown Spartanburg. A career FIT-thusiast, Simone has been a dedicated professional for nearly 17 years. If you’ve seen it; she’s taught it. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her wife, Ebony & their sons, Simeon and Emory.

Mark Coolidge

Mark Coolidge is 12 years old and in 8th grade. Mark has been in several productions at Spartanburg Youth Theatre including singing and dancing as an Oompa Loompa and a Who. Mark has been in many productions at USC Upstate. His characters have been Winnie the Pooh, The Velveteen Rabbit, Benjamin in “The Yellow Boat”, and David in “It Can’t Happen Here”. Mark enjoys singing, drama, science, math and riding his bike.

Kristin Scott Benson

Kristin Scott Benson is the five-time, reigning, International Bluegrass Music Association’s Banjo Player of the Year and recipient of the 2018 Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass.

Since 2008, she has been a member of Grammy-nominated and two-time IBMA Entertainers of the Year, The Grascals. Kristin is one of the nation’s top bluegrass banjo players, exhibiting impeccable taste, timing, and tone. With an attentive ear to back-up, she is known and respected as a true team player among her peers, and many consider her to be one of the first females to successfully be a sidemusician in a top-tiered bluegrass band.

After living 13 years in Nashville, she moved back to her original home in the Carolinas, where she lives with her husband and son.

In partnership with the Hub City Bookshop we will be providing a copy of Twas The Night Before Christmas to first grade students at several Spartanburg area schools.

“We are thrilled to again be partnering with the Spartanburg Philharmonic to distribute books to Spartanburg children. All of our arts organizations enrich our community immeasurably and our support of one another is more important now than ever.”

Anne Waters Hub City Writers Project, Executive Director

“We at the Spartanburg Little Theatre and Spartanburg Youth Theatre could not think of a better way to celebrate our 75th anniversary season than to join our talented friends in the Spartanburg creative community for this unexpected and unique holiday collaboration. We are so grateful for the opportunity to bring some laughter and levity to the season and to help shine a spotlight on the many dynamic, vibrant and resilient arts organizations and artists that make Spartanburg home.”
