to leave Saint James to find another school if they show a pattern of unkind behavior to other students. Occasionally, circumstances will make it prudent to determine the presence of prohibited or inappropriate material in a student‘s locker or on a student‘s person. The principals are authorized to establish whether such materials are present by inspecting lockers and/or by asking a student to empty pockets, handbag, or purse or to unlock and permit the inspection of a personal vehicle parked on campus. Records of any student who is guilty of harassment will carry over from year to year. A pattern of this behavior will be reason for expulsion from Saint James School. Parents Saint James School hires professionally trained faculty, staff, and administrators to work with students. There is a level of expectation for our employees to treat parents with courtesy, dignity, and respect. Likewise, we expect parents to do the same with school personnel. Raising children is a difficult task and we recognize the challenges that come with parenting. There will be times when your children make mistakes, fail, or violate rules in our handbook. Please know that consequences for these mistakes are opportunities for positive learning experiences. We all know that we learned best as youngsters from our own mistakes. We value your student regardless of their actions. Saint James School will not tolerate rude or violent behavior from parents. Conversations during conferences or any other time on campus will cease should a parent exhibit such behavior. Please note the clause about parental behavior on your contract. The retention of your child is at risk should you choose to violate this request. The majority of our parents are truly wonderful and we value the family atmosphere we have established and the partnerships we have developed with parents. However, we will not tolerate the actions of a few parents to display rude or violent behavior on our campus. Children watch what we do as well as hear what we say and we all must strive to set good examples of behavior for them to follow.

REPRESENTATION IN THE COMMUNITY

The school attempts to instill within each student a sense of integrity, good citizenship, and understanding of his or her responsibilities as a citizen of Saint James school and the community, including but not limited to, the responsibility to comply with all civil and criminal laws. Saint James School expects each student to be cognizant of his or her conduct and decorum away from the school campus as well as on the campus. A student‘s conduct should promote the general welfare and reputation of the school and must not reflect 14
