The Arcade Levels Up

Which decade had the best video games? ’80s kids would claim Pac-Man, Donkey Kong, Galaga and Tron, while ’90s kids would counter with NBA Jam, NFL Blitz, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter. Both sides can further the argument — and the playing of retro games — at The Arcade, in their new location at 906 E. 3rd St. N. on the north edge of Old Town.

Derek Sorrells, who co-owns The Arcade along with partner Michael Jensen, says, “People love the new location! It’s four times larger, with two private party rooms and a huge patio offering corn hole, giant Jenga, giant Connect 4 and a huge chessboard. The addition of food and a full bar allows families to come in and have a pizza or burgers, and the adults to enjoy a beverage of their choice.”

The interior design captures all the ambiance of a classic arcade, from dim lighting to glowing video cabinets and the pinging and trilling of over 100 arcade games and 22 pinball machines. Uplevel all of that with open woodwork and brickwork, and signature cocktails such as Princess Peach’s Pink Lemonade, made with Pink Whitney, triple sec and cranberry juice in a martini glass.

This is truly an activity for all ages and walks of life. In the party rooms alone, The Arcade has hosted nonprofit groups, birthday parties, pastors, electrical linemen, military gettogethers and more, according to Sorrells. “It was time to take The Arcade to the next level, and our new location is it!”

All arcade games are set to free play, no tokens required. Admission: $12 per person for arcade games, $10 for kids 10 and under. 50 cents per play for Skeeball, Pacman Battle Royale and Pinball Machines.
