Edwin married the love of his life, Ruth Marek, on July 23, 1947, at Caldwell Brethren Church parsonage with the Reverend Henry Beseda, Sr. officiating. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on July 23, 2017. Edwin and Ruth made their home in Snook, for a short period living with Edwin’s parents, and later at the location of their current home. They enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and Louisiana with friends and family. Edwin was a storyteller and loved to tell his family about life when he was growing up – driving the school bus when he was 15 years old with no driver’s license, hauling lumber to College Station to build houses using a horse and wagon, hunting, and frog-gigging stories – to name a few.
Ruth preceded him in death on November 8, 2018. In addition, he is preceded in death by parents Henry and Minnie Kovar; parents-in-law Emil and Emilie Marek; siblings Albina Dalchau, Viola Sebesta, Raymond Kovar, and
