who passed away Monday, June 8, 1992 at the age of 82 years. Mrs. Sitka was born November 2, 1909 in Lavaca County to the late Anton and Mary Otto Kainer. She married Louis L. Sitka on September 29, 1931. She was a member of the KJZT Society, SPJST Lodge, and the St. Mary's Catholic Church of Victoria. Survivors include a son, Leon L. Sitka of Victoria; sisters, Lillie Sassin, Gussie Kainer and Marie Kainer, all of Houston, Celia Capak of El Campo and Martha Kuhn of Hallettsville; three grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. Visitation began at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 10 at Kubena Funeral Home Chapel. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 10 at the funeral home chapel and at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11 at the Sacred Heart Church in Hallettsville. Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 11 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Celestino Say officiating. who passed away Monday, June 29, 1992 after a lengthy illness. Sister Spaniel was born August 28, 1898 to the late Joseph and Anna Kocian Jurek. She married the late Louis Spaniel on October 22, 1917 in Cistern. She was a member of the Witting Home Demonstration Club, KJZT Lodge, SPJST Lodge, past recipient of the Mother of the Year awarded by the KJZT Lodge and was a member of the St. Anthony Catholic Church in Witting. Survivors include a daughter, Frances Pustejovsky Bollom of Sealy; sons,
Gene Spaniel of Alice and George Spaniel of Bellaire, Michigan; a sister, Victoria Steffek of Blessing; ten grandchildren and twelve greatgrandchildren. who passed away in a local hospital July 8, 1992 at the age of 72. Brother Ancira was born in Lockhart to Ramon and Lucia Ancira. He grew up in Lockart and attended school there. He married Oralia Alva on November 14, 1940. He has been a resident of Little River since 1969 and was a farmer, retiring in 1979. Survivors include his wife, Oralia Ancira of Littler River-Academy; his son, Andres "Andy" Ancira, Jr. of Little River-Academy; his daughter, Mary Alice Barraza of Ackerly; his brother, Frank Ancira of Farwell; his sisters, Santiago Calderon Flores of Houston, Luisa Munoz of Odessa, Marie Hernandez of Lubbock, Janey Juanita Galvan of Texaco, New Mexico, Amelia Torres of Texaco and Victoria Yurega of Roswell, New Mexico; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 11 at the First Baptist Church of Little River with the Rev. Jon Crosby officiating. Burial was in the Wilson Valley Cemetery in Little River with Hewett Funeral Home in charge. May our departed lodge brother rest in eternal peace. Features Rogers Resident Sweepstakes Winner Melanie Dawn Zavodny of Rogers, Texas, was the grand prize winner in 97.5 FM's (KWTX) Spring Sign-up and Win Sweepstakes. She won a 1992 Honda Civic LX, fully loaded with power windows and locks, an air bag, tinted windows, AM/FM stereo cassette, an alarm system, and much more. Melanie entered the drawing only one time. Her name was selected from a cement truck filled with millions of other names. A 97.5 FM DJ called her name over the radio and Melanie had less than ten minutes to call the radio station and claim her prize.

Melanie, 19, is the daughter of Milton and Martha Zavodny of Rogers. They are members of Lodge 24, Cyclone. Melanie was very active in the SPJST youth program. She was District II Miss SPJST this year and first runner-up to Miss SPJST at the XXVI Convention in Victoria. Melanie was also the 1990 District II Queen
and first runner-up State Queen. She has received many SPJST awards in talent and crafts. Melanie was the Cyclone Youth Club reporter for many years. Melanie is a 1991 honor graduate of Rogers High School. She is now a student at Temple Junior College, majoring in Journalism and Law. She is employed by Dillard's. —SPJST-

THE KOVANDA'S CZECH BAND
Aut12ntic Czech Polka and Waltz Music by Kovanda's Czech Band Kovanda's Czech Band was organized over seven years ago in 1984 in Houston, Texas by Vlastimil Kovanda, and arranger of Czech music and a native of Czechoslovakia in October 1989 to live. Leland Miller purchased the band from Mr. Kovanda at that time. The band has since been conducted by George Krejci, also a native Czech and product of the Czech Conservatory of Music and a musician who has performed with many Czech bands. Several of the band members have degree in music. Mr. Krejci and Mr. Leland Miller are the only original members of the band. The band performs at many festivals throughout Texas including the State Fair of Texas, the Caldwell Kolache Festival, and New Braunfels Wurstfest, the Resenberg (Fort Bend County) Czech Fest where they appeared on KPRC Channel 2 TV, the First Annual Texas Polka Music Awards Festival and others. Most members of the band also perform with the SPJST Lodge No. 88 Czech Concert Band of Houston, Texas. Band members are from Houston and neighboring towns. Band members are: George Krejci, conductor and plays 1st kridlovka (flugelhorn); Leland Miller, manager, 2nd kridlovka (flugelhorn), Steve Kuttra, Eb clarinet, Henry Schaer, Bb clarinet; Lou Fought, baritone; Kathy Jolly, baritone; George Jolly, bass; Don Kasprowicz, 1st trumpet; Russel Boney, 2nd trumpet; Steve Millsap,
drums; Robert Ermis, vocals and accordian; also Carolyn Filipp performs with the band who was not present during the taping in Ennis. Carolyn Filipp, Kathy Jolly and George Jolly are all members of SPJST Lodge No. 88, Houston.
