I Fagiolini Robert Hollingworth director Matthew Robins puppetry JS Bach Jesu, meine Freude BWV 227 David Lang The Little Match Girl Passion In this unique concert, Gramophone Award-winning vocal ensemble I Fagiolini bring together one of JS Bach’s greatest motets with David Lang’s The Little Match Girl Passion. Based on Hans Christian Andersen’s heartbreaking story Lang’s Pulitzer Prize-winning piece takes its inspiration from Bach’s St Matthew Passion, and is here animated with exquisite shadow puppetry by Matthew Robins. Threading the works together are delicate and evocative carols from Germany and Denmark, creating a poignant yuletide concert. Produced by Opera North Projects.
