Goes Under The Hammer
Over the last 50 years, the Braided Rivers Community Trust (BRCT), formerly The Ashburton Licensing Trust (ALT) amassed a significant art collection. The collection of over 40 paintings was mostly acquired as the winning works from the Ashburton Art Awards, which was sponsored by ALT.
In February this year, the Board of BRCT formally gifted approximately 30 to Advance Ashburton Community Foundation. Artists include Annie Baird, John Badcock, Clark Esplin and Robert McDowell.
These paintings make up a significant proportion of the artworks to be auctioned.
Gifted works from Merle Cooney and other private collections will also to be auctioned. This includes works by Marion Maguire, Rudi Gopas and a magnificent Alex Pawlowitz painted in 1916.
All proceeds going to the Ashburton Art Fund held by Advance Ashburton Community Foundation.
