This year’s stage was much larger and stretched close to 100 metres. “The reason for this is we wanted to create a more majestic look and feel.” This year unlike last year, Billy adopted Steel structure for the roofing system compared to layher structure. “Steel structures occupy less space and also need less counter weights. The roof structure was custom made by Arina Hogan. The festival being held during an unpredictable weather period in Singapore where a sunny day can quickly turn into a windy and rainy day meant that we had to ensure that our main stage structure being so long had to be able to at least withstand winds at 80km per hour speed. This meant we had to ensure properly calculated counter weight measures. I am pleased to say that all the hard work I had put in during the tender spec that had all the calculations included, paid off.” “I had created a 3D drawing of the main stage that showed how the full set-up will look like. The promoters, the relevant government authorities who had to approve our set-up and even the suppliers had a much better idea of what we wanted to achieve as the 3D drawing allowed them to look at the stage and the set-up from different angles including how they were all going to be interconnected. I am pleased that I had put in the effort to create the 3D drawing because it certainly gives a better picture compared to the normal 2D drawing.” “We were also very thorough with the main stage schematic drawing for the fixtures where we had identified every single fixtures including how they were connected and every single power point indicated including total load so that we can trouble shoot any issue quickly as we would be able to identify the problem fast.” Billy felt that though the 3D drawing and schematics took up a lot of his time it was worth it as it was easily understandable by those who had to make decisions as well as those who had to install and integrate the systems.
