For more information please call Julian on 01842 750548 or email: sanders.julian@talk21.com

As from 6th April 2014 a new method of enforcement has been introduced to recover rent arrears relating to commercial property

The new Regulations must be used for Commercial Property and the Common Law Right of “Distress” is abolished. CRAR enables the Landlord to instruct an Enforcement Agent to take control of a tenant’s goods and sell them to recover the equivalent value of rent arrears. Various notices need to be served on the Tenant by the Enforcement Agent at stages of the process. It is similar to distress in many ways but there are many important differences, for example, there must be a written lease, only the principal rent and any VAT and interest can be recovered, not for example service charges or insurance. A minimum amount of seven days’ rent must be outstanding.

Regulations only apply to purely commercial premises and cannot be exercised on premises used for mixed residential and commercial use. Seven days clear notice must be given of exercise of the right of enforcement and the times of entry are between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m. on any day of the week and during the Tenant’s business hours. The goods must be sold at a Public Auction or such other means of sale as ordered by the Court after giving the Tenant at least seven clear days notice. The enforcement agent must exercise CRAR within 12 months of the date of the Enforcement Notice but the Court has the discretion to order the extension of this 12month period, for example if the Court is satisfied the Applicant has reasonable grounds for not taking control of the goods during the 12month period.

Paul Stevens

August 2014

@Dispatch_Mag

If the enforcement agent and the tenant enter into a Repayment Agreement and that agreement is breached, the 12-month time limit to exercise CRAR begins from the date of breach. Any goods seized by the agent must be either: (a) secured on the premises, removed from the premises and secured at a different location, or (b) secured by a Controlled Goods Agreement between the agent and the tenant. T h e a g e nt can apply to the C o u r t f o r the issue of a warrant a u t h o r i s i ng entr y into oth er p r e m i s e s to take control of g o o d s b ut the Court must be s a t i s f i e d that there will be g o o d s i n the other premises and t h a t i t i s reasonable to issue the warrant.

There are goods which a r e exempt from seizure by the agent, such as equipment necessary for the tenant’s personal use in his/her business, trade or profession. This includes computer equipment and vehicles but there is an exemption limit of £1350 and over this value the goods may be seized. Fortunately also assistant dogs, sheep dogs, guard dogs and domestic pets are exempt from seizure. Within seven clear days of taking control of the goods, the agent must obtain or make a valuation of the controlled goods and this must be in writing and signed by the agent. It must set out a separate value for each item and be provided to the tenant and any co-owner of the controlled goods. The proceeds of sale must be used to pay the amount outstanding including the amount of the debt which remains

unpaid and the recoverable costs in exercising CRAR. A person will be guilty of an offence if they intentionally obstruct the person lawfully acting as the enforcement agent or interfere with the controlled goods without a lawful excuse and the offences can be punished on summary conviction either by imprisonment for a term of up to 51 weeks, or a fine. Under the Common Law Right of Distress there did not need to be a written lease, any sum payable under the Lease could be seized with no minimum.

life, and have arguably improved the fairness of the Rules although perhaps not in every respect from the Landlord’s perspective. For further information please contact Paul Stevens at: paul.stevens@jackamans.co.uk or call 01473 255591. This article provides only a general summary and is not intended to be comprehensive. Specific legal advice should be taken in any individual situation.

Mixed use premises could be entered for goods to be seized and there was no requirement for notice to be served prior to entry. These regulations have introduced more up-to-date requirements into this important area of commercial business

How Do You Know If You Need To Replace Your Bed? Know the signs of an unhealthy matress and bedframe For most of us a third of our life is spent asleep, meaning the wear on our mattress over time is considerable, yet a staggering 25% of people wouldn’t consider changing their mattress – even after more than 10 years. It is hardly surprising then that 58% of the population complain of waking feeling stiff and achy. How do you know if you need to replace your bed? • Is your bed more than 7 years old? • Is it uncomfortable? Or when you sleep in someone else’s bed, does that feel better than your own? • Do you wake in the morning with a painful back or stiff limbs? • Can you feel the springs beneath the surface of the mattress? • Do you and your partner roll together? • Is your mattress just generally warn and discoloured? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, then it could be time to invest in a new bed! The key with mattress buying is to try out as wide a variety of options as possible to find the most suitable mattress for you (and your partner). Given the amount of time you spend in bed, it is important to spend a reasonable amount of time in store trying out new ones, especially if you have been experiencing pains that could come from your existing mattress. It this instance, it may be worth having a chat with your chiropractor for some advice on what they advise is suitable for your back. At Sound Sleep, we stock a variety of brands and different types of mattresses, for example pocket sprung, memory foam, latex and so on. Each manufacturer has different mattresses that offer different levels of support and comfort. When mattress shopping, it is essential to ask for help. We are

August 2014

highly trained mattress specialists and are on hand to advise you, not to high pressure you in to buying something that may not be suitable. How do I know which one is right for me? A mattress that is supportive and comfortable is important, but remember, your requirement for support will differ depending on your weight and build. The best bed for your back is not always a firm one. You need a bed that will provide the right support and comfort for you. When laying on your side, ideally your spine should be parallel to the mattress and your spine should not sag down or bow up. Trying them out Give your self plenty of time and wear loose clothing, this helps you turn and get in and out of beds in store. Our Mattress Specialists will point you in the right direction. Try the advised mattresses for as long as possible to get a good ‘feel’ for them. Remember comfort is very subjective. Some people like the sensation of being cocooned in a bed; others prefer to lie on top of them. Back sleepers may like a firmer feel than those that like to sleep on their sides. There are lots of ‘feels’ in store, we are here to help you find what works best for you. If you sleep together, shop together Always shop with your partner, the bed must be suitable for both of you. As it is inevitable one of you may have to compromise! Size matters It is scientifically proven that couples sleep better in a bigger bed. The more space you have the freer you can move without disturbing your partner.

This is also a good idea if one or both of you get hot in bed. You should be able to lie side by side, with your arms behind your head and your elbows out, without touching each other. Did you know that two people sharing a standard sized double bed only have as much personal sleeping space as a baby in a cot?

Check your base It is always advisable to purchase a new mattress and divan base together, but not essential. Our mattress specialists will ask questions about your existing base, most bedsteads in good condition will be suitable for a new mattress. However, old divan bases, especially those that are sprung will more than likely need replacing as they could cause harm to your new mattress, in turn affecting the level of support that the new mattress will provide and could also invalidate manufacturers’ warranties and guarantees. Look for the NBF Mark of Approval For added reassurance that the bed you are buying is safe, clean and honest (meaning it is what it says it is) then look for the Approved logo which can be found on all beds at Sound Sleep. All members of the trade association, the National Bed Federation (NBF) must be independently audited to ensure they follow the procedures that comply with flammability, health

and hygiene and trade descriptions regulations. More info at www. bedfed.org.uk Now that you have chosen a new mattress, don’t forget that pillows are very important too. A cheap, unsupportive pillow can cause neck and back problems. These are just as important as your new mattress. For more help and advice, visit our in store Mattress Specialists who can talk you through all the pros and cons of various mattresses. We also pride ourselves on having the most up to date mattress technology as well as the old fashioned technology too!

Richard Beales, son of world renowned Norolk rosarian Peter Beales, a past managing director of Peter Beales Roses Ltd; a business that was started in Norfolk in 1968 that has been instrumental in popularising many varieties of old fashioned, classic, shrub and climbing roses which, without the company’s intervention, would undoubtedly have become extinct. The company has gained a worldwide reputation as “a living museum of all things roses”.

Richard, along with his father – who founded the company and passed away in 2013 – and his sister Amanda (who sadly passed away in the same year) also contributed to the ever-increasing number of garden roses by introducing many new varieties that combine all the attributes required by the discerning gardener, the majority of these achieving worldwide acclaim and becoming exceptional additions to their genus.

With this new-found freedom and de-restriction of rose usage, Richard has on numerous occasions became involved in many exciting garden projects the world over, advising clients and businesses alike as to the best way to not only grow but display their roses within beautiful, classical and contemporary designs.

While working in the family business Richard has gained special expertise within the design sector, and this, combined with his knowledge of roses and other plants, becomes a winning formula.

Suffolk & Norfolk Youth Action More Talk - More Action .... SNYA Ambassadors Suffolk and Norfolk Youth Action Ambassadors met up with likeminded young people from around the UK to attend the inaugural meeting of a UK Youth Alcohol Awareness Group. Matthew Dowse and Jamie Debenham travelled by train to arrive at their hotel in Newcastle before attending the Conference the following day. The group is the first of its kind in the UK and started off with a talk about the effects that excessive alcohol consumption has on the nation.

Callum and Branni The delegates then split into groups to focus on specific problems and to present possible solutions. After lunch, the group discussed how they would like to take the group forward and selected one of the members as a youth co-ordinator, with others opting for responsibilities, such as media, press or website design. The group intend to meet again for their second meeting in two months’ time in London. Closer to home, SNYA Ambassadors, Tom Ferguson and Catriona McKendrick, attended the second meeting of the Wymondham Youth Provision Group at Norfolk Constabulary’s Head Quarters. They joined five other young people, four police officers and three youth provision providers to discuss the present youth provision and highlight any shortfalls in youth activities provided in and around Wymondham. Our Ambassadors commended the youth bus that is situated on Browick Park each Friday evening. They particularly liked the presence of adults saying that it made them feel safe knowing that they could be called upon if needed. SNYA Ambassadors also liked the confidential nature of the discussion area that could be accessed on the upstairs of the bus. They suggested several activities, including a youth cinema, drama and acting opportunities, venues for young

August 2014

people to perform live music, and regular competitions for the users of the skateboard and BMX track. Our members thought that it would be a good idea for the provision of a sports co-ordinator that could deliver informal ‘street’ sports. They discussed the Leisure Centre facilities and the provision of uniformed youth activities that they attended in the town. Other young people talked about the improvement and expansion of the Skateboard and BMX track, whilst broken glass and rubbish was an apparent problem on one of the play areas. This group thought that the provision of a youth shelter was inadequate with discarded rubbish and glass being present and this should be upgraded. At the end of the meeting the group was tasked to research costs to provide some of the youth provision recommended. School Radio SNYA School Radio is where we take our portable radio station to work with students within their classrooms. One such annual excursion is to work with Year 6’s from Harleston Primary School. The students told me that they are really looking forward to moving up to high school and looked back fondly at the time they had spent, many since reception year, at their primary school. Year 6 is probably the first big milestone in your child’s life, as they move from being the biggest kid in their school to one of the smallest in the next. Children from Harleston Primary School usually go on to Archbishop Sancroft High School (ASHS) with a few going on to Bungay High and Stradbook High Schools. The thing is, all the High Schools do a great job preparing the Year 6’s for their first year at big school with several taster days and visits. The students tell me that the biggest problem is finding your way around; they are most afraid of getting lost but had been provided with maps. They are also looking forward to making new friends as there are several feeder schools around the Harleston area. Most did not expect to be in the same class as their mates at the next school, but felt reassured that their

existing friendship groups would be helpful in the early days in their new environment. The students were looking forward to their new lessons and thought that ASHS would have more sports equipment than they presently have and were most looking forward to the after school clubs and teams. Throughout the day the students told me how they had enjoyed their time at Harleston Primary School and would definitely miss the place. They said that the teachers were fantastic and the school was a loving environment. During Year 6 they had visited London where they participated in an acting master class at the Globe Theatre, visited Westminster, Tate Modern and the Museum of London. They had many highlights of the day, including all the students performing living art by forming a shape of an eye with some being the iris and others being the eye lashes. The most humorous time was travelling on the Underground and the most exciting was eating tea at McDonalds.

Lloyd Potter environment, probably making great friends who will remain loyal to you for the rest of your lives and who knows, some of you may even meet your life partners. Year 6 transition from Primary School to High School is not the only year group on the move at this time of year because of course, Year 11’s move on to employment, apprenticeships or their chosen further education establishments.

The students told me how they had enjoyed the MusicMix concert back in March at The Hippodrome, Great Yarmouth, hosted by CBBC’s Rebecca Keatley. The event consisted of a 60 piece BBC Concert Orchestra and performances by, friends of SNYA Radio, the rock band, The Rumble. The boys and girls looked back fondly at their performance of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and looked forward to the forthcoming residential at Hollowford Centre in Derbyshire. Consistently, the young people mentioned the clip- on- tie myth. There is not an epidemic of people being swung around by this garment. The clip- on- tie is held up as the best neck wear by Headteachers and Principals because it can only be worn when the top button is fastened, the tie length cannot be altered and it gives the school a better image in the community. As the time approaches for you to purchase your new school uniforms and shiny shoes, apprehension will continue to grow for both you and your parents. Rest assured, you are going to have a great time in your new learning

Jack and Oliver SNYA Radio worked at Archbishop Sancroft High School (ASHS) in Harleston at the ‘Cluster Arts Festival Event 2014’. This was an event that not only saw an exhibition of the students GCSE art work but also included performances by the School’s Orchestra, Steel Band and several rock-pop bands such as ‘Hell brothers’ and ‘Unicorn and the Voltage’. The cluster schools (Primary Schools whose pupils predominantly feed into the High Schools) also participated in the

Order and/or disorder GCSE Art course work. Throughout the day, students from Harleston, Alburgh and Brockdish and Pulham St. Mary Primary Schools attended the event held at the Sancroft Centre. During the exhibition, the students, members of the public, guests and parents, selected Lloyd Potter’s work as the ‘Best in Show’, whilst Olivia Dey collected the award for the most creative piece. ASHS takeover of SNYA Radio was a great success with a mixture of music and chat. Yvette Tyler, station manager for the day, organised interviews, radio plays and the ‘French word on the hour - every hour’ as well as ‘thought for the day’ from teacher, Nigel Tuffnell. Students broadcast the weather report using data collected from their very own weather station.

Jeremy Burton, Club Chairman, told me that they were expecting about 120 people at the celebration event. “It has been another successful year for the Club and this evening is to say a big thank you by recognising the achievements of the lads and girls at the club. We have received £40,000 from the Lottery Award and an additional £20,000 from Breackland Council to extend the Gym and refurbish our existing facility. This will benefit the club immensely, as we will be able to simultaneously train two groups one in the classroom and the other in the gym. The support has been incredible throughout the season from both the squad and everyone involved with the club.” Karen Pettitt, Attleborough Town Mayor, said of the event, “that it recognises all the Club has achieved

motorbike in 2010. Ryan was a member of the Attleborough Boxing Club. Douglas Stratton told me that he was looking forward to receiving his certificate, as a squad member, and that the Award Ceremony evokes feelings of tension and awkwardness. “You don’t know who will be receiving the trophies as the winners are chosen by the coaches.” Santiago Weaver was presented with the Derek Barnard Cup- Junior Boxer of the Year Trophy and he told me that his last bout went all the way and he won on ‘points’. It is now closed season so the training is winding down but still intense; he runs just one and a half miles instead of three. Ben Clarke, Bronze Award winner, said that he was about to travel to Harlow in Essex to box in the Easton Counties Novice Championship. He said that it

The interviews were of a very high standard, including items on Creative Canapes, Forensic Science and hair, and Art and Mathematics. Richard Cranmer, Headteacher, participated in the broadcast, as well as many students.

Attleborough Amateur Boxing Club SNYA was invited to cover the 5th Annual Attleborough Amateur Boxing Club Awards 2014. It is always a great privilege to meet the squad and this year was no exception. The event was held at the Connaught Hall, where the great and the good, parents, friends, and relatives of the boxers, all gathered in anticipation of the outcome of the winners of each individual trophy.

Andy Durrant & Richard Caston He has just taken his assessments which test his boxing knowledge and how he performs tasks. Cinema This summer, we are launching SNYA Cinema in Wymondham. SNYA has been working with the Town Council and the youth provision providers that make up the ‘Wymondham Youth Project’ to complement the existing activities that are available to young people. The meetings are led by Inspector Carol Congreve from Norfolk Constabulary, in her capacity as chairman of the South Norfolk Youth Advisory Board. Our first meeting was to map out the aims of the group and for those present to explain the provision that they provide.

As part of the project SNYA established the ASHS Newsroom. Oliver Barnwell, former SNYA Member, took on the role as Editor and organised his team to post regular updates, photos and audio links to the event. You can visit his work at ASHS. SNYA.CO.UK Well done to all who were involved in the Cluster Arts Festival 2014! Your contribution was amazing and I hope that the experience has given you an insight into journalism and broadcasting. I know you will have a great time at your new schools or colleges.

From a Town’s point of view, it gives kids something to do so they are not ‘hanging around street corners’ and it will benefit children that need something to focus on.” Andy Durrant presented a cheque to the Club for £500, in memory of his son, Ryan, who died when he came off his

Morgan Flynn was presented with the Lindenmayer/Loveday Cup for Clubman of the Year 2014. He told me that on his last time out he lost by just one point but was looking forward to a rematch at Kingfishers Boxing Club next season. Morgan has had three boxing matches, including a Skills Bout, a bout at Great Yarmouth and his last at Connaught Hall in March.

After visiting Wymondham High School Academy, for a discussion meeting with our SNYA members, we were able to establish an understanding of the existing activities and youth groups that are available. These included uniform groups, such as, fire cadets and scouts, martial arts and sports at the Wymondham Leisure Centre, drama groups, and the Youth Bus ‘drop in centre’ at Browick Park Recreation Ground. This park has youth shelters, a BMX track, a Skateboard Park, and sports areas. They described the groups of young people that would benefit from increased provision and some of the issues that affect the residents of Wymondham. SNYA members recommended an outdoor gym area, movie nights, drama workshops, a performance/ rehearsal venue for young bands, trips out and some way of engaging young people in sport where you do not have to buy all the kit. cont’d

18 ATTLEBORoUGH cont’d We invited them and other Wymondham young people to the next meeting of the ‘Wymondham Youth Project’. Seven young people addressed the group, increasing the activities list to include a ‘Gaming Night’, (where young people compete against each other using Xbox and Play station), music nights and alterations to the existing skateboard park for the benefit of younger children. SNYA has joined Creative Arts East’s, Village Screen. They have provided projectionist training for us and some of our members have signed up for their ‘Somewhere to ……..’ project so they can benefit from marketing training. My team has visited community halls in Wymondham to check out the availability and to see if the premises are dark enough to show films. We have consulted with even more of Wymondham’s young people to establish where they are able to go to watch films and what films they would like to see. We are very excited about the project and hope to bring you the real cinema experience to rurally isolated towns and villages. We understand the needs of our young people and they have told us that they do not want a large plasma TV. Notwithstanding the limitations of a mobile Cinema project, I can assure you that we aim to bring you that ‘real cinema’ feel with a full screen, stereo sound and projection. You are able to purchase popcorn, pop and sweets but as community centres usually have those hard plastic chairs, we are encouraging

www.attleboroughonline.co.uk all the young people to bring their own bean bags for extra comfort. SNYA is not competing with other cinemas but we are aiming to bring to you the latest films, after they have been shown at regular cinemas but before they are available on general release on DVD. Our target audience are those that have seen the movies before and want to enjoy them a second time with a different friendship group and those who are seeing the film for the first time and want to take advantage of cheaper prices and do not want the additional cost of travelling to the City. Just like regular cinemas, we have a website that informs people what, where, and when the films are to be shown, booking in advance facilities to guarantee entry, and a loyalty card that entitles you to a 10% discount and a free portion of popcorn. Check out www.snyouthaction.org. uk/cinema for further information. Breckland Flower And Garden Club Orchid growing After June’s visit to the wonderful garden of Furze House, Rushall, Diss - a plantaholic’s paradise! - members were back at Old Buckenham in July to hear about orchid growing from Mrs Robyn McDonald. In earlier societies a person’s wealth was judged by the number of orchids they owned. Other collectors were prepared to pay as much as 12,000 guineas for a certain plant. Even today plant breeders will give up to £50,000 in order to clone millions of a very saleable variety. Members were then shown the best way to repot an orchid and it was explained that depending whether the plant originally grew on trees, in the ground or in water which medium to grow it in. A most informative talk.

GENERAL 23

Planning Permission Approved For New Norfolk Children’s Hospice The possibility of a purpose-built children’s hospice in Norfolk to revolutionise the way children’s palliative care is delivered is a step closer after a planning application by East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) was granted. Subject to a successful fundraising campaign, the new hospice will be built on a 5-acre woodland plot in Framingham Earl and will replace the charity’s current facility in Quidenham in the south of the county. Graham Butland, EACH Chief Executive, said: “The current Norfolk hospice in Quidenham has provided care and support for more than two decades and has been a home from home for families, but it’s very restricted in its facilities and development and a new hospice will bring the county in line with services we offer in Cambridgeshire, Essex and Suffolk. “We’d like to thank everyone involved in the project so far. We’re over the first hurdle in gaining planning permission, but we’ve now got the challenge of encouraging the good people of East Anglia to help us raise the funds needed to build and equip the new hospice.” Accessibility and flexibility is

restricted at Quidenham and there isn’t room for expansion. Quidenham is in south Norfolk with many families travelling large distances to access care – often when time is vital. Benefits of the new hospice will include: • More choice and flexibility for families. • Improved accessibility and specialist equipment across the whole building. • A hydrotherapy pool. • Far better dedicated facilities for play and music therapy, and more appropriate areas for older children and young people. • Better and more appropriate family accommodation. • Dedicated bathrooms for all bedrooms. • Improved facilities for on-site family support groups and activities. • Nearer to the centre of the county making it

easier for many families to visit and with closer/easier access to the county’s hospitals.

With the purchase of land, building costs and professional fees, the appeal will need to raise in the region of £10 million, in addition to the voluntary funds still required to run EACH services during this time. EACH will continue to run Quidenham hospice to its current high standards until a new hospice is built. If you’d like to help the appeal to build a new children’s hospice for Norfolk, please contact

Local Flavours 2014 – Growing Places The Eastern region is bursting with talented food and drink producers, from the kitchen table cupcake makers to some of the largest food businesses in the UK. All contribute to a diverse and flavoursome mix of great food, making the area one of the most talented food producing areas in the UK. Local Flavours 2014 is all about making it easy for food and drink buyers keen to support local producers, to meet and sample their goods. The idea of meeting in one place will relieve, for many, the pressure of trying to source locally in such a diverse market. Local Flavours 2014 is taking place on the 23rd September 2014 at the Royal Norfolk Showground, just off the A47. The event is by invitation for trade buyers and potential customers of the 60 plus stand holders exhibiting. Attendees are invited from hotels and restaurants, catering firms, tourist attractions, anyone responsible for food in the

hospitality arena plus food retailers, locally and nationally, passionate about sourcing produce from the region. Following the success of the 2013 and first Local Flavours, the event has moved to the showground to accommodate more stands as well as to include cooking demonstrations and a business advice area. “The farmers, growers and food processors locally are constantly innovating and bringing great food products to market. Local Favours gives producers an unrivalled opportunity to showcase their brands to professional buyers from local hotel and restaurants to major retailers and take their products into new markets. Anglia Farmers are very pleased to support the event”. Clarke Willis,

CEO, Anglia Farmers. “The RNAA strongly supports food and farming in the county therefore it was natural that we would get involved with this event. Local Flavours provides a great platform for companies from across the county, whether small scale artisan producers or large agricultural businesses, to talk to buyers and champion the outstanding food produced in Norfolk.” Said Greg Smith, Chief Executive of Royal Norfolk Agricultural Association. Valerie Watson-Brown, Director The Lively Crew and BOLD Directories, “Local Flavours 2014 is totally focused on the food and drink sector and supporting local producers. Our job as matchmakers is made easier by the encouragement and offer of support we have had from organisations willing to help make it

a success. We already work with food companies across the fresh produce supply chain in the UK and abroad and we understand the importance of supporting this regions food industry, retaining it as an exciting and innovative growth area with huge employment potential for young people.” For more information about Local Flavours 2014 visit www. localflavours2014.co.uk or email faye@localflavours2014.co.uk.

Everything Starts With A Choice... I can do anything I want, be with anyone I want, and it’ll be my choice Everyday we are constantly making choices, shall I get up or shall I lay here for just 5 more minutes.... Shall I have a bath or a shower or not bother today? Shall I wear these clothes, or these, shall I put these shoes on or would these be better ? You get the idea. Some choices we make are fairly insignificant and they don’t really have a big impact on our daily lives. These are the choices we routinely make without really thinking about them, and it won’t really make much difference if we choose this or that, life will just carry on regardless, and we won’t really think about what might have happened if we had made a different choice today regarding whatever it is we are thinking about. However, some choices we make can have a lasting effect on our lives, they are dramatic choices, choices we need to stop and think about, choices which can have a lasting effect on our destiny, and it’s these choice we need to think about and make very carefully. We choose how we live our lives, what job we do, our careers, who we work for and what we earn. Ultimately it is our choice. Most people would choose to be rich (you choose the definition of Rich) rather than poor, most people would choose to earn more money than they currently do, and most people would choose to have more family time rather than being at work all the time.

So it’s our choice, we choose, but how many of us actually do choose, rather than just accept that’s the way it is. If we all have the choice, why do so many not choose to be better or learn more or earn more or spend more time with family and friends or whatever it would take to make us better than we currently are? If you had to choose right now to be rich or poor, what would you choose?

“If you don’t like how things are, change it! You’re not a tree!” If you choose to be poor that’s great, it’s your choice, you’ve made that decision, so go and get on with it. If you choose to be rich, fantastic that’s great too, again it’s your choice, now go and get on with that. If you choose to do nothing or choose to change nothing, guess what will happen, correct….nothing, you will stay exactly as you are and nothing will change!

If you choose to want to earn more, have more time with your family, relieve some of the stresses and strains of life and you choose to want to have more enjoyment in your life, this is the best choice possible as you have chosen to do something to make a change, and given that you have made the choice I can now help you.

So… YOU have chosen to make a change but you’re not sure how; I’d like to introduce you to a fantastic business opportunity that you can work around your other commitments, like your current job or childcare. I’m looking to work closely with just a handful of energetic, ambitious and positive people who have made a choice to create a better life for themselves. People who I can work with, people who are willing to learn, who will attend local training events with me, people who will not find excuses for not earning whatever amount of money they want. I have chosen to do this, and it is one of the best choices I have ever made. I run a total of 4 businesses and I have 2 young children to look after, run to school, after school clubs and weekend activities, yet I still chose to find time to improve my situation. Therefore “I haven’t got time for this” is just an excuse, it’s your choice, but it is just an excuse. If you haven’t got time, choose to get up earlier. Richard Branson only has 24 hours in each of his days, he just chose to be successful. He made that choice! If you want to earn extra

money, only YOU can do that. No one else can make it happen, only you. So if you would like to share in my success, earn extra money, build your own business with my help and guidance and actually achieve what you’re really worth, make a choice right now to ring me and I’ll show you how. What have you got to loose? There is no commitment in your looking to see what it’s all about. If you choose to get in touch I can help you and together we will make it happen. If you choose do nothing guess what… nothing will change for you. But it’s your choice, so choose wisely!! free kitchen and bathroom installations. We don’t believe you should wait ages for your makeover or suffer endless delays, debris and disruption, so we have designed the whole installation process to be as quick and easy as possible. There’s the extra bonus that your work will be carried out without mess, fuss or unnecessary waste, at a fraction of the cost of totally new installations. You keep your familiar working layout, saving on extensive rewiring, replumbing and demolition, while Granite Transformations refaces your countertops, tiles and cabinets with gorgeous new surfaces. There are hundreds of materials, colours and styles to choose from, allowing you to customise your décor and create the makeover of your dreams. There’s the added peace of mind that we take care of absolutely everything, from measuring up to handing over, and

guarantee all of our materials. What distinguishes a Granite Transformations makeover from all others is our remarkable ‘top that fits on top’. Unlike regular work surfaces, our material is made only a quarter of an inch (6.7mm) thick and is especially lightweight, so that it can be installed over existing worktops, without removing the original or needing extra underpinnings. That means it can also be laid over bathroom tiles or fitted onto walls as a shower liner or decorative finish.

We offer practical and affordable, luxury surfaces that look stunning and add style and value to your home. Around a million customers worldwide have put their faith in our products and taken advantage of our outstanding lifetime warranty on worktop materials. That is why ‘the top that fits on top’ continues to stay on top.

The diamond-polished surface needs no special cleaning or routine maintenance and can be kept sparkling clean, by wiping over with a damp cloth.

To fully appreciate the benefits of a Granite Transformations makeover and the quality of our craftsmanship, do come and visit our showroom in Stratton Strawless just outside Norwich. We are your local kitchen makeover experts, fitting bespoke worktops directly over your existing work surfaces, so there is no mess or hassle, and provide kitchen door replacement to complete the look.

Everyday spills and stains can be removed easily and there’s little risk of damage from knocks, cuts, abrasion and burns. All of our products undergo extensive performance testing and are produced to strict quality standards, using a high proportion of recycled raw materials.

As well as updating existing kitchens or bathrooms, we can also help you with new fitted layouts. We offer a no-obligation design service, where we will bring the full range of worktop and door colours for you to choose from, in the comfort of your own home.

The premises at Snetterton were broken into on Thursday 10th July at 7.45am. When business director Michael Lockwood arrived to open up later on, he found that the back door had been smashed open and some of the motability scooters in his stockroom had been stolen.

Some items which were taken are: TGA Digital, Cadiz, Kyomco 4. There was another Scooter which was found outside vandalised too.

A range of scooters is always shown, including second-hand, covering all price ranges and explainations are given to the customer about the features and benefits and any drawbacks of each machine. The customer can then make an informed decision.

Norfolk Police have a report of seven scooters being stolen, along with cash and a laptop. Should anyone in the area know anything or have seen anything, they are being urged to contact either Norfolk Police on 101, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

The customer is invited to try the scooter on a range of different surfaces, as it is believed to be important to experience the conditions likely to be encountered on a scooter. Trial areas include tarmac and concrete, crushed tarmac and uneven grass.

Sunrise Healthcare Ltd. Quality care in your own home According to the Royal College of General Practitioners it is estimated that seven million people in the UK alone currently provide unpaid care to a sick or disabled child or an adult who could not otherwise live independently within the community. About 40% of these carers are thought to be at risk of depression or stress because of their caring role. Sometimes the strain can be so much that residential care seems the only solution. This problem is so great that the government has called for carers to be routinely screened for signs of depression by their GP to ensure their health needs are not neglected. For many people that care for a family member, friend or relative deciding when to place them into a care home is one of the most difficult decisions that they will ever have to face. Many carers report that the feelings of guilt associated with even contemplating reaching such a decision can be

August 2014

tremendous and must never be understated, and that this is often made impossible by the elderly persons own fear of going into a care home.

Our aim is to help people to stay as independent as possible, as long as possible in the comfort and safety of their own homes.

Many carers feel overwhelmed with the burden of looking after someone and often feel that everything is on their shoulders and that they are all alone and must somehow find a way to soldier on.

At Sunrise Healthcare we provide high quality, reliable Domestic and Personal care and support to adults with varying needs in their own homes within South Norfolk.

So when do you place your loved one in a care home? There are so many great answers to this heart wrenching question but only a few provide the comfort and reassurance many carers seek. Many carers are unaware of the help and support that is available to keep a loved one at home, safe and happy.

We support people with Dementia, Alzheimer’s, mental health illness, Learning disabilities, Physical health needs, Carers supporting a loved one and people at risk of becoming socially isolated. Or even those that are finding it difficult to manage the day to day tasks around the house or the demands of beloved pets.

From just an hour a day to full time live in care, Sunrise Healthcare’s personal care and support services are available 24 hours a day; seven days a week helping people in South Norfolk stay independent and safe in the comfort of their own homes and communities.

Domestic support may include but not limited to the following. Preparing light meals, light cleaning duties, ironing, laundry, shopping, collecting pensions / prescriptions, assisting / reminding with medication, escort to appointments - befriending, accessing the community, clubs and associations.

Personal Care: getting up out of bed, assistance with washing / bathing, help with dressing, help with toileting and going to bed. We even provide help to feed and walk the dog. Other specialist services that we provide include 24 hour live in care, day and night sitting, respite care, pet care and reablement and response services. Sunrise Healthcare Ltd. Keeping Fit!

Manorcourt Daycare

Even in older age, fitness is very important. Check out a few ways that you can look after yourself.

...is a community based 7 hour care centre; it is set in a detached building within the village location of Griston close to the market town of Watton, in the Breckland district of Norfolk.

Looking to try a different way to keep fit, but don’t know your Gyrotonic from your Tai Chi? We lead you through some of the most popular exercise classes. Aerobic and step classes PRO: Great for beginners and the more advanced CON: Watch out for muscle strain. Warm up and down properly Aerobics classes, which are generally a high or low-impact workout to set music, allow you to exercise at your own level to improve your cardiovascular fitness and flexibility. Step classes burn calories quickly and help to tone the lower part of your body as you go up and down the step in front of you. The higher you have the step, the harder it is. Aqua aerobics is the same as aerobics, albeit in the shallow end of the pool. As your body weight is supported by the water, the impact is reduced, so it’s ideal for those with joint problems, exercise newcomers or those who are overweight. Pilates PRO: Increases flexibility, circulation and balance CON: Not for those with chronic injuries and no subsitiute for general cardiovascular exercise. Founded by Joseph Pilates in 1880 as a way to strengthen his body after a childhood beset by illness, Pilates is a form of strength and flexibility training open to anyone, no matter how fit they are. Helping to promote physical and mental wellbeing it’s also a huge aid for physical awareness, improving posture, circulation and balance. By training the core abdominal and back muscles, it helps to stabilise your torso and allows your entire body to move freely. For people who are more sedentary than most, Pilates is a gentle, non-impact exercise.

control through different poses. Viniyoga (also known as vinyasa) is probably the most gentle form of yoga, focusing on co-ordinating breathing with movement. Increasingly used for injury rehabilitation, it’s an excellent choice for beginners. A similarly gentle choice is Kundalini yoga. For those after a more rigorous workout there’s always Bikram yoga, in which the room is heated to anything between 85°F and 100°F. Be warned though, it’s hard work. The same goes for Ashtanga yoga, which offers a fast-paced series of sequential poses. Physically demanding, it builds strength, flexibility and stamina as you move from one posture to another in a continual flow, linking the movements to your breathing. Gyrotonic PRO: Excellent for injury rehab and those with back pain CON: Classes an be costly and hard to find A favourite of Madonna and Gwyneth Paltrow, Gyrotonic is a cross between swimming, ballet, gymnastics, Pilates and yoga.

Manorcourt Daycentre specializes in a service for individuals aged 50+ who require time out at an independent facility which allows individuals the freedom to be an independent person within their own right. Our goal is to provide a high quality and flexible 7 hour therapeutic day-care service for those individuals who currently live within the community but it is also a service for those individuals who have a caring role to play and need a reliable support system which allows them as a carer, time out from their caring role. The service is staffed by trained staff that uses therapeutic activities with the primary goal of supporting self expression and communication; it provides a social and enjoyable day out from home, it’s the perfect opportunity for individuals and staff to make new friends and enjoy regular social interaction. The aim of Manorcourt Daycare is to promote a high standard of service which promotes independence at all times and one which recognizes the unique value every

person has. Within this we encourage the building of positive relationships with the individual, their family and friends. We work closely with outside agencies, the individual’s doctor’s surgeries, social services and other relevant agencies. Since the day centre was first developed it has changed consistently with the care needs of it users; from relocating to a purpose building in 2004, a gradual development of dementia services and now in 2013 we will be developing the service further by offering a extended sensory garden, a 1950’s style living room for enablement and dementia services and refurbished hairdressing facilities. MOTORING REVIEW 41

Hyundai Santa Fe Premium 4WD 7-Seat 2.2 CRDi An economical SUV with 4x4 credentials The South Koreans have become skilled at making you feel in safe hands when it comes to car production. From the satisfying ‘thunk’ the Santa Fe’s doors make when you close them to the muffled diesel rattle on start up, you soon realise the Hyundai is made of stern stuff.

downhill brake control and hill start assist. As well as the occasional dirt track excursion, the Santa Fe will help you out with, say, caravanning adventures for the whole family. It has an impressive towing capacity of 2,600kg (braked) and, to make life easier, trailer stability assist is part of the gadgetry get-up too.

For an SUV with 4x4 credentials it’s fairly economical, returning an average 41.5mpg. It’s an especially comfortable and spacious motor too; it’ll seat five adults and there’s room for two extra little people in the third row of fold-away seats. For a biggish car the latest Santa Fe is surprisingly easy to weave through city streets and it will happily tour at 70mph on the motorway all day. The steering is direct and well weighted at all speeds - and there’s only the slightest body roll on bends, but that’s acceptable, given its lofty structure. The gutsy 2.2-litre 194bhp turbo diesel engine comes with a smooth-changing six-speed automatic gearbox, which helps

PROS ‘N’ CONS • • • • • make the motor more than capable of punchy overtaking manoeuvres. In truth, you can have fun if you detour from the straights and take on the twisty country lanes. Of course, being able to cope with a bite of bona fide bucolic driving is how this Hyundai explains its steep price-tag. With its elevated height, four-wheel-drive and robust body, the handsome Santa Fe Premium has much in its favour to

handle the road less travelled. It’s no hardcore mud-plugger but it has the toehold of a traditional 4x4 and the manners of a normal car, while a high level of kit adds more than a splash of splendour. Equipment includes leather upholstery; a sound system with 10 speakers; parking sensors; a rear view parking camera; self levelling suspension; touchscreen satellite navigation, seven airbags;
