Yogashri Pradhan SPE‐PB Chairman 2020‐2021 Senior Reservoir Engineer Endeavor Energy Resources This month’s sec on mee ng covers what it means to be a part of this industry given the pandemic and changing economics. I thought it would be interes ng to parallel with how current circumstances have affected the Sec on. We will con nue to have virtual sec on mee ngs for the remainder of the sec on year. This is to ensure the safety of our members given the rise in cases locally. We will provide further no ce when we transi on back to face‐to‐face sec on mee ngs. However, there are select events from different parts of the sec on, such as Young Professionals, or other social events, that will be in person given proper precau ons. I will also take this opportunity to present our sec on goals that we set out in August and provide the status: Goal 1: Successfully integrate Trans Pecos Board Members and sec on members/students with the Permian Basin Sec on through professional/technical events and leadership opportuni es. This is an ongoing effort to integrate the Trans‐Pecos sec on with the Permian Basin Sec on. In the 2019‐ 2020 Sec on year, the Trans‐Pecos Sec on became a part of our Sec on, expanding the jurisdic on to include Texas Tech University (TTU) and University of Texas of the Permian Basin (UTPB) as universi es that the sec on supports. We would like to recognize students from both universi es for volunteering in various sec on ac vi es this sec on year, such as those provided by the Young Professionals and the CO2 Conference. Goal 2: Launch Members‐in‐Transi on ini a ve and have programs carry out webinars and professional events to benefit sec on members. We successfully completed this goal in launching Members‐in‐Transi on (MiT) in August and con nue to have monthly webinars for students and our members who are looking for their next opportuni es. Please review this Pipeline for our upcoming MiT mee ng this month. Addi onally, we encourage students and Members in Transi on to submit ar cles to the Pipeline covering skills learned and applied that could benefit the Sec on. Goal 3: Complement community rela on and other events through virtual pla orms to maintain ac vity and engagement. This is an ongoing effort to adapt to current circumstances. Be on the lookout for a virtual Energy4Me event coming this year to educate students. This will require numerous volunteers, such as yourselves, to par cipate in making videos teaching students of various grade levels about the oil and gas industry. (Con nued on Next Page)

Goal 4: Create and u lize study groups for recent graduates, regular sec on members, and new sec on members to increase engagement breadth and leadership opportuni es. This is an ongoing effort for our growing sec on to create groups represen ng difference petroleum engineering disciplines. For instance, we successfully launched our Data Analy cs Study Group last year, and they are ac ve in holding monthly webinars and increasing engagement in the Sec on. We sent a survey to the Sec on expressing interest to be a part of current and new study groups, and we received an overwhelming number of responses. Be on the lookout for more study groups launching in the sec on this year based on your feedback. Goal 5: Launch a Diversity and Inclusion Commi ee to support diversity and inclusion ini a ves for members We successfully completed this goal in launching a Diversity and Inclusion Commi ee in August. Please review this Pipeline for the January mee ng details from this Commi ee. Be on the lookout for other events, which will require your involvement, such as a D&I panel for TTU and UTPB students. I would like to wish the Sec on a Happy New Year, and hope everyone fulfills their goals set out for 2021 while adap ng to this ever‐changing environment.

A friendly reminder from the SPE Permian Board to all members to renew their SPE memberships if they haven't done so already!

SPE PBPB D&A SPE D&ISG

SPE Permian Basin Diversity & Inclusion Commi ee The Diversity & Inclusion landscape in the Oil & Gas industry has changed drama cally over the years, slowly, more companies have understood the value of D&I to innova on, recrui ng, retaining, and developing a compe ve workforce in today’s global environment. There is a lot of uncertainty in today’s Oil & Gas industry, which has made it impera ve to companies to redefine their business models to focus on value‐ driving ini a ves that yield more collabora ve and innova ve teams that connect be er with the increasingly diverse marketplace by crea ng leaders and employees who build strong connec ons with the marketplace community. While the data clearly shows that diverse organiza ons outperform financially their peers, boost innova on and retain employees, we need to understand that demographic diversity in the workplace is a reality. Companies need to effec vely u lize the diversity that already exists to create an equitable workplace. The industry is ready to move beyond the business case of D&I, an improved approach to D&I is cri cal to the long‐term survival of the industry.

SPE Permian Basin Young Professionals Members of the Month This month the Young Professionals group it is our pleasure to honor both our Events Co‐Chairs Eli Montoya and Dalton Kille as our January Members of the Month for their extraordinary service keeping our members safely engaged during these mes. Eli Montoya: How long have you been in the Permian and where’s your favorite restaurant? I have lived in Midland for five years. Throughout my me in Midland, I have tried many of our locally owned restaurants. I will say, at the top of my Midland cuisine ranking is a home grilled steak from the Midland Meat Company. Their steaks are phenomenal and are a must try for any local. Why did you decide to pursue a career in oil and gas? Early in life, my love for earth science and engineering made the upstream oil and gas industry a suitable career choice. The ability to study the rocks we drill, engineer ways to unlock and produce hydrocarbons, and develop an economic game plan to any challenge – every day is a new adventure to say the least. Beyond my love for science, I have tremendous pride in our industry’s ability to produce the valuable energy that allows us to live in great prosperity. Can you share your most adventurous oilfield experience with us? My current role as a Drilling and Comple on Engineer. From being on the rig floor during opera ons to troubleshoo ng downhole equipment at 2 am with my D&C team, there is so much energy around the opera on that makes it feel more like an adventure than a job. What do you believe is the most meaningful aspect of the oil and gas community? The oil and gas community, especially in Midland, is a ght knit group that has determina on to achieve great things. In bringing individuals together, each contribu ng their respec ve exper se, we are able to overcome any challenge. This is exemplified by the fact that we have boosted oil produc on in our basin to over 4MM BOPD. We should all be proud of this accomplishment. Would you have any advice for our members who would like to get more involved in the events commi ee? COME!! Come with your friends, colleagues, or just with your smile – we would love to have you. The most difficult part of being involved in our organiza on or the community is simply showing up, the rest is easy! Please take a look at the calendar for our next month‐worth of events and join us. If you are a regular and have event ideas, please share as we are always thinking of ways to keep our members engaged. Can you share what kind of exci ng events you look forward to planning? From golf to go‐kar ng, we have many events that we feel will bring the YP’s together for a great me. Keep an eye out for the monthly events and mark your calendar!

SPE Permian Basin Young Professionals Members of the Month Dalton Kille: How long have you been in the Permian and where’s your favorite restaurant? I lived in the Permian Basin almost 4 years. I moved to the Permian Basin in 2017, about two weeks a er gradua ng from LSU to start my career. My favorite restaurant is Garely’s in Midland. They have great food & service, you should check it out! Why did you decide to pursue a career in oil and gas? I grew up around oil & gas because my father worked in the offshore sector of the industry. It was a natural progression for me to study Petroleum Engineering and follow his path in the business. Can you share your most adventurous oilfield experience with us? I had been working in West Texas for about 2 weeks and was as green as you could be. A spare part was needed to be ran out to a wellsite in New Mexico one Friday evening, and I was picked for the job. When I got close to the wellsite, I realized I had no cell service and the lease road was a maze. I’m sure someone can relate! A er driving around lease roads in circles for about 45 mins I finally found the right well with my technician wai ng with an cipa on. I never knew there were so many wells in the Permian! What do you believe is the most meaningful aspect of the oil and gas community? The result of our community’s hard work provides the founda on for just about everything in modern society. As an industry, we work hard to provide the raw materials to keep lights on, manufacturer essen al goods, and help our community. I am proud to work in the petroleum industry, and specifically in the Permian Basin. Would you have any advice for our members who would like to get more involved in the events commi ee? I encourage everyone to a end our events. You will meet likeminded people in the industry, who like to learn, and have a good me! We are always looking to expand our events to incorporate more engagement and extend our community. Can you share what kind of exci ng events you look forward to planning? Eli and myself look forward to planning a variety of events every month. We currently have plans to host mini ‐golf, bowling, happy hours, go kart racing, and paintball events. We welcome any sugges ons and feedback, and look forward to mee ng everyone at our next event!

SPE Permian Basin Young Professionals December Event in Review We would like to thank SPE YP members for charitably dona ng toys and gi s to CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) of the Permian Basin at the December Toy Drive Social for CASA, and to our event sponsor Liberty Oilfield Services who graciously provided for refreshments.
