Welcome!
Thank you for attending our 16th Annual Ranch Horse Competition and Sale, and our 26th Quarter Horse Production Sale. We have enjoyed raising Quarter Horses continuously for more than 50 years, and strive to produce versatile, trainable athletes with incredible dispositions and soundness.
Our goals are centered around creating a planned breeding program, utilizing foundation & performance AQHA bloodlines that have been proven to consistently meet our expectations. We take an organized approach; you will see many three-quarter, seven-eighths and full blood siblings in the offering. As we find great crosses and combinations of bloodlines, we then strive to find or create a new sire to compliment this maternal base. This results in multiple generations selected for the same program principles, allowing us to increase the consistency of our foals and ensure they are exactly what our customers need.
We’ve seen 3 Spader Ranch-bred geldings sell between $20,000 to $34,000 the last two years. For those willing to invest the time, the foals offered in this sale bring a tremendous amount of opportunity. We welcome your calls and inquiries, please look for the videos online and let us know how we can be of assistance.
We greatly appreciate your support of our family and breeding program, and look forward to hearing from you!

Reata Valentine is a dynamic blue roan Blue Valentine performance stallion with a pedigree filled with rodeo credentials. His sire, Vals Blue Charge, is a talented money earner in heeling, and tie-down roping. His paternal great-grandsire, Drews Hancock, is a multiple PRCA & NFR sire with outstanding progeny in heading & heeling. Another great-grandsire, Blue Zan Parr, sired “Honeypot”, a great bay roan heel horse with two trips to the NFR to her credit. His grandsire, Azul Caballo Amigo, sired a PRCA Heel Horse of the Year and a Senior Rodeo Horse of the Year.
Not to be outdone, Reata Valentine originates from one of the strongest maternal families in our program, which also produced a PRCA Calf Horse of the Year (“Mr Ed”) owned by Doug Clark. All in all, his pedigree is responsible for producing more than a dozen pro-level roping horses who share the same speed, big stop and athleticism that Reata Valentine demonstrates.
Reata has done an exemplary job in a short time as a sire-producing colts with a real “look” about them. He’s a perfect combo with Blue Max Hancock daughters to ensure the utmost in disposition, ability and style. Look to Reata Valentine to produce colorful, blue roan athletes that excel in the arena and on the ranch.
Congratulations to the Padillas and the success of their Reata Valentine son, Reata Mclintock. This gelding has seen a lot of success over the last year in rope horse futurities & AQHA Shows (qualifing for the World Show twice) against the strongest competition in the country, and was sold in our production sale as a foal.

A total package powerhouse with a keen head, quickness and speed, this naturally gifted breeding & arena prospect is bred to be great! Her maternal family produced a PRCA Calf Horse of the Year owned by Doug Clark-so PRCA level bloodlines are on top and bottom of this pedigree.

“Patriot” was selected for our program particularly due to his maternal pedigree. His dam is a full sister to one of our favorite broodmares of all time, SF Lil April McKeag. This line of horses has served us very well through the years, producing several top sellers that have gone on to become fantastic ranch, roping and family horses. Patriot gives us a fresh infusion of that blood, and presents a wonderful option for adding size, length of stride, and balance while stamping his progeny with color and a keen head. Sire of 100% roan foals to date, that exhibit his quality and structure. He’s proven to blend perfectly with our Blue Max Hancock daughters, as you’ll see in this year’s offering.

We think you will love this Patriot filly, out of a stellar Blue Max Hancock daughter. Grandam “Star” produced multiple past high sellers, breeding stallions and a very successful rope horse futurity winner. Strong and classy, she brings a total package of quality rarely seen on the market. More importantly, like her dam she will be gorgeous with a disposition second to none. So many great ranch horse sires in her lineage, and anchored by a great mare line with her grandam still producing in her mid 20s. Dam is a full sister to 2X World Show Qualifier & Futurity standout Reata McClintock.

Don’t miss this incredible filly out of the dam of Cielo Roan! Like her dam, this filly is sensible, has a huge natural stop, and catches your eye in the pasture. From our “Dakota Belle” mare line, which has been proven time and again to produce powerhouse athletes that are the most user-friendly horses you can find. Her dam is a full sister to an AQHA World Show Finalist in Tie-Down Roping as well as half sib to 12 PRCA level calf horses. These include Trevor Brazile’s “Deputy”, Marcos Costa’s AQHA World Champion “Sweet As Time”, and Monty Lewis’s “Squirrel”. All told, half siblings to Popular Valentine have won over $2 million in PRCA events and 4 have competed at the NFR. Popular Resortfigure was an AQHA World Champion in Heading & Heeling, Reserve World Champion in Tie-down, and an AQHA Superhorse. Make note of this really nice well-started gelding from our last colt crop of Silver Spur Hancock, he puts together a solid pedigree from many of our favorite lines of performance & family horses. Well started this spring, he’s been ridden in the feedyard and will work gates, stand tied, and sidepass. Going well in a snaffle or bosal, he’s got the foundation laid to keep enjoying and make a superior ranch, arena, or family mount. Super quiet and easy to catch, this is the type of gelding that everyone is looking for.

PENNY PER MILE
2018 Sorrel Grade Quarter Horse Gelding
This is a gentle, easy-going 6 year old gelding with loads of potential to go literally any direction you want. I bred and raised this gelding but due to issues between the stallion owner and the association, several colts were unable to get registered, including this one. Although, official papers do not limit this gelding’s quality, talent and capabilities in any way. He has been raised, started and used on the ranch off and on since he was 3, but I have too many to ride to put the time into finishing him and have to let some go. Although his training hasn’t been consistent, this gelding has still earned his keep by checking and gathering cattle, rotating pastures, and started in tagging calves. He has traveled across a lot of different terrain and will go literally anywhere you point him and be sure footed. He has been hauled to some fun day and open shows and to ride trails around a few lakes. He would be perfect for a high schooler needing a new challenge, who wants to learn how to finish one into a 4H horse or fine tune into their new #1 using horse on the ranch. He has been started driving and just needs someone with a cart to finish him into a fun Sunday-drive partner. The opportunities are endless with this gelding with his show-horse quality and his ranching experience. No injuries, not a trader horse, and not blown up - You won’t come across another opportunity like this! Don’t miss out on an exceptional horse offered straight from the breeder that you can finish exactly how you want! Kallie Emig (785) 410-0812.
