For the Girls One women’s trend this season which is accessible to all is the maxi trend. Dresses and skirts of a maxi length are versatile; they can be worn in so many ways and can be dressed up or down.
They are flattering on all figures, for example a body con maxi dress on a slim figure emphasizes a slim waist and a flowing, loose maxi dress discretely covers a larger stomach without adding any extra bulk. The varieties of maxi length products available at the moment are fantastic. A top tip for men this season is to keep it simple! Stick to plain colours and simple cuts for a slick and stylish summer look. Shorts should be just above the knee and t-shirts made from thin cotton should have low necklines for that summer feel. In the colder nights wear loose and light cotton mix trousers with chunky V-neck knit cardigans. Take inspiration from the catwalk – Dolce and Gabbana’s Spring/Summer collection featured crisp whites and subtle “summer black” pieces with gorgeous oversized bags perfect for weekends away. Topman have a fantastic range of shorts in at the moment similar to those D&G style! Anything from denim to corduroy to chinos. Try these white striped Topman shorts for something a bit different. Team with a deep V-neck t-shirt, like those sold in Next and some River Island Espadrilles for a cool summer look. As August draws to a close, the evidence of a summer well spent slowly begin to accumulate typically, in the most unattractive way possible. Average fixed rates reach all time low levels! Mark Flavin from Miura Financial Solutions Ltd comments on the latest Bank of England base rate decision. No-one expected the central policy setters to make any changes to the Bank Base Rate during their July meeting in spite of inflation being at close to 5%. No-one could accuse the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of inconsistency, as for the 28th consecutive month they have once again retained the bank base rate at 0.5%. The economy has grown by a less than impressive 0.1% in the three months to the end of June and this, together with a continued squeeze on household incomes arising from the unrelenting rise in the cost of living, will have been a factor in determining that the economy is not yet in a position to cope with any increase in the cost of borrowing. Notwithstanding the wider economic climate, mortgage lenders are doing their best to offer new and existing borrowers some very competitive mortgage products. Moneyfacts recently commented that 2, 3 & 5 year average fixed rates having reached all time low levels. Average mortgage rates for 2 and 5 year fixed rates have fallen back further in July from June by 0.08% and 0.28% and now stand at 4.36% and 5.16% respectively. Average 2 year tracker rates picked

up marginally to 3.50% in July, recording a small rise of 0.12% from June, but still below where they were at the same point in 2010. Lenders continue to show a greater appetite to lend by increasing the number of products to an average of more than 7,400 during June, an increase of more than 3% over May. This increase in supply and product choice provides some positive news for new and existing borrowers alike and means that those buyers and remortgage customers looking to enter the market even in this tough economic environment, can do so, knowing that this is one element of their spending where costs for many are falling. 8-12 Chicken Thighs or Legs 1 Red Onion, chopped Bunch of Fresh Thyme Bunch of Fresh Coriander 1tsp Coriander Seeds 1tsp Ground Allspice 2 Cinnamon Sticks, crushed 6 Cloves of Garlic 1tbs Fresh Ginger 1tsp Ground Cloves 4tsp Black Peppercorns 1/4 cup Spring Onions 5 Small Scotch Bonnet Peppers 6tbs Olive Oil 2tsp Salt Zest of 1 Lime Juice of 2 Limes
Jamaican Jerk Chicken Our nations weather may have took a turn for the worst (no surprise there!) but there is no doubting we all love a good BBQ. This month we have brought you a mouth watering West Indian Jerk Chicken recipe to get you and all of your friends swarming round the BBQ. Firstly, chop all or your onions, garlic and peppers. Do not worry about chopping them too finely as they will all go into a blender. Using a blender, mix all of the ingredients together until mixture is at a smooth consistency. Next, get your chicken and place into a bowl. Pour over the jerk seasoning and massage the mixture into
the chicken for about 5 minutes, ensuring all meat is covered. Then, cover the bowl with cling film and leave to marinade in the fridge for 24hours to get maximum taste. To cook, ensure your BBQ is at a medium heat and cook the chicken for 45minutes. If you are a little nervous about cooking chicken on the BBQ, alternatively you can part cook the chicken in the oven and finish off browning it on the BBQ. Serve with wedges of lime, rice and salad and enjoy!

If your not one for spice, then substitute the scotch bonnet chillies for medium heat standard chillies without compromising on taste!

oes the BlackBerry PlayBook have what it takes to knock the Ipad 2 off the top spot?
Revealed way back in Spetember 2010 it was said to have a more focused approach to business and the more serious side to life, at just 7" its a very different piece of tech.
App World has a paltry offering. The news that the PlayBook wouldn't even support the existing mobile applications currently on offer came as a true shock.

Eventually Android app support will address this, but the few native BlackBerry apps are a disappointment.
The BlackBerry PlayBook weighs in at just 400g grams thanks mainly to its super model slim 7 inch figure with dimensions of 193 x 130 x 10mm and a weight of 400g. The touch sensitive screen is precise and to the point and with intuitive menus and a use me more feel the PlayBook is a joy to behold.

Altough it is very easy to add your own content to the PlayBook without any form of conversion there is a marked lack of video content to purchase online. Play back is seemless with the screen being very clear and sharp which follow through when web browsing.

The Verdict: Even though we’re Apple mad the PlayBook performed better than we
will ever admit to, it matches the iPad 2 note for note in many aspects of day to day life. The jewel however in the iPad 2’s crown does not lie with the iPad 2 itself, although it does win hands down on e-mail and kerb appeal, it is the Apps & App store. No matter how hard the playbook tries it will never be as diverse as the iPad 2 with the thousands of Apps there for the taking.
