With a history rich with environmental and scientific contributions, the Gulfarium is one of the leading conservation and preservation agencies on the Gulf Coast. In the early 1950s, a respected marine researcher and graduate of the University of Miami’s Marine Laboratory, J.B. “Brandy” Siebenaler, envisioned a facility that would introduce marine life to guests in a way that no one along the Gulf had previously imagined. In 1954, fifteen scientists from the University of Miami and fifty local residents incorporated the Gulfarium with Siebenaler.
