DOLPHIN SMARTS turtles found in the Gulf Coast – from the loggerhead, green, Kemp’s Ridley to the hawksbill. With a history rich with environmental and scientific contributions, the Gulfarium is one of the leading conservation and preservation agencies on the Gulf Coast. In the early 1950s, a respected marine researcher and graduate of the University of Miami’s Marine Laboratory, J.B. “Brandy” Siebenaler, envisioned a facility that would introduce marine life to guests in a way that no one along the Gulf had previously imagined. In 1954, fifteen scientists from the University of Miami and fifty local residents incorporated the Gulfarium with Siebenaler. Their stroke of genius was to promote the cause of marine science and encourage conservation by entertaining
