Design boards will also show different aspects of the estate from the ground up so they can get a feel for how the area could be transformed. The Southwick Estate lies between the railway station and Shoreham Port and contains 248 homes across 13 blocks, which are owned and managed by Adur Homes, as well as two commercial properties owned by third parties. Significant work and investment is needed to bring the blocks on the estate up to the decent homes standard and the scheme is a priority for Adur. A project team has been working with residents since July last year to review options including refurbishment, or a partial or full redevelopment of the area. Adur District Council would like people living on the Southwick Estate to set out their priorities for the area and have their say on its future by getting involved with the consultation process so their views are heard and considered as plans to improve the area move forward. Initial options were presented to tenants and leaseholders in October and November at pop-up events in different locations on the estate, and at an exhibition at Southwick Community Centre. Residents asked questions about parking, usable green space, the cost of any proposed plans, timescale and ensuring that everyone on the estate got a fair deal.
