Ropetackle Cinema is sorry to announce that the summer festval of four themed films had to be cancelled. We apologise for the disappointment and any inconvenience caused. Those who purchased advance tickets will, of course, be entitled to a full refund. Three films to be shown in August remain as scheduled:
A FAMILY FILM:ERNEST AND CELADINE
Advertisement
Meet Ernest, a large and grumpy streetbear musician who one day comes across an orphan apprentice mouse dentist called Celestine. Persuaded not to eat her, they form a friendship that really shouldn’t happen but which, against all odds, prevails. Simply and beautifully animated, it’s a pleasure to watch this endearing story. Cert U, duration 80 mins. Animation. Wednesday 3rd August, 2.00 pm. Tickets available from Box Office or on-line, £4.
A RELAXED AND FRIENDLY FILM open to all SUMMER HOLIDAY
Presented in relaxed and friendly conditions - suitable for all, especially people with any form of memory loss. Bus mechanics do up a London double-decker as a hotel and drive it round Europe, picking up a stowaway and three stranded girls. Starring Cliff Richard singing those old, loved songs. Cert U, duration 107 mins. Monday 8th August, 2.00 pm. Tickets available from Box Office or on-line, £5. Carers free/refreshments included.
A MATINEE FILM: THE DUKE
1961 London. An outspoken Newcastle taxi driver, Kempton Bunton (Jim Broadbent on top form), disgusted by the money spent on Goya’s painting of the Duke of Wellington for the National Gallery, mounts his own protest. He steals and hides the painting, sending ransom notes saying The Duke would be returned if the government invested more money in care for the elderly (including free television for pensioners). He is arrested and put on trial much to the consternation of his long-suffering wife, Dorothy (Helen Mirren). Cert 12A, duration 96 mins. Tuesday 23rd August, 2.00 pm. Tickets available from Box Office or on-line, £5.

Peace of Mind for you and your family
Do you have medical conditions and worry about living alone? Perhaps you have parents or relatives who may be getting frail and you’re concerned about being there to help in an emergency.
Your Local Lions Club, Adur East, regularly hold a stall at the Shoreham Artisan Market (on the 4th Saturday of the month), and always promote their Message in a Bottle & Message in a Wallet scheme Whilst it may be focused on the more vulnerable people in our community, anyone can fall downstairs or have a car accident, so this scheme can benefit anyone, including you. As a minimum it will save the Emergency Services valuable time identifying the patient and their emergency contacts. By telling whether someone is on certain medications or allergies or not, its a potential lifesaver and provides peace of mind to users and their friends and families. The Lions Message In a Bottle scheme is a simple idea designed to encourage people to keep their personal and medical details on a standard form and in a common location - For Message in a Bottle, that’s the Fridge! A sticker included in the pack is placed on the back of your front door - The Emergency Services are trained to spot these stickers and if seen, will know that important information can be found in the bottle in the Fridge. For Message in a Wallet - It’s as you’d imagine, the card is kept in someone’s wallet or purse. The bottles and wallet cards are FREE - and whilst we’d love a donation, what we love more is helping people feel safer in their homes, knowing that should the unthinkable happen (perhaps a fall which leaves you confused and/or unable to speak), Emergency Services personnel will easily be able to identify specific medical needs, together with important contact information. If you’d like one of our Bottles or Wallet cards for yourself or a member of your family, just come and find us at the Shoreham Artisan Market - we’d love to see you!
