The NDIS Readiness Fund is part of a $3.1 million investment to help Australian disability enterprises prepare for the reform. “This funding will help Multicap prepare for the changes ahead by helping with the costs of consultant services,” Mr Perrett said. “It’s important for all areas of the disability sector to be ready to make the change, including our Australian disability enterprises which employ more than 20,000 Australians. “We are committed to ensuring the disability sector here in Moreton is well supported as we move towards this historic reform. We want Australians with disability, their families and carers, to start benefitting from an NDIS as quickly as possible. “For the first time, Australians

with significant and permanent disability will receive care and support over their lifetime, regardless of how they acquired their disability.” The Federal Government will deliver $1 billion over four years to start rolling out the first stage of a National Disability Insurance Scheme. “From the middle of next year, people with disability, their families and carers in selected launch sites will start to receive care and support through an NDIS,” Mr Perrett said. “The Government will provide support to about 10,000 people with significant and permanent disability across the country from mid-2013 and this will expand to 20,000 people from the middle of 2014.”

Welcoming new police IAN Kaye, Member for Greenslopes, has welcomed the Queensland Police latest recruits as part of the latest graduation which delivered 17 officers for the Metro South district. “These new recruits are a muchneeded resource for the local community,” he said. “I want to warmly welcome them. “I know the residents of the Greenslopes electorate will also welcome these additional police into the area.” The new officers will begin working immediately to tackle issues facing the community,

including law and order. Mr Kaye said the Greenslopes electorate was a diverse community with differing needs and these recruits would assist residents with those needs.
