Chinese New Year 2017 Birmingham Programme

NEW YEAR MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR Chinese New Year is the largest event in the Chinese calendar and this year will be our biggest event to date. 春节是华人一年中最大的节日，而今年的华人新春庆典也将是我们举 办的规模最大的一次活动。 Now in its 15th year the Birmingham celebrations have grown in popularity, with the 2016 festival attracting over 25,000 to Chinatown and Southside. As well as traditional lion dancers, singers and martial artists, this year’s festival will also see the introduction of a new street food market, which will be serving up a range of Far Eastern delicacies, as well as a fun fair. 到目前为止，我们已经成功举办了15届的伯明翰华人春节庆祝活动，并越来越受到公众 的欢迎。其中2016年的华人新春庆典就吸引了超过25,000人来到伯明翰中国城参加我们 的庆祝活动。今年的华人新春庆典将不仅有传统的舞狮表演、歌舞及武术表演，还会有 一条新的小吃街为大家呈现各式各样的东方美食，就如同在嘉年华一般。 These new additions wouldn’t be possible without the support of the Southside community and those further afield. Last year Birmingham City Council announced that it would be unable to fund the festival due to ongoing budget cuts. This news hasn’t dampened spirits though and the entire community has come together to support and raise the funds needed to put on this spectacular festival. 这些新元素的加入离不开伯明翰南苑社区和更远地区人们的支持和帮助。去年因为预算 的减少，伯明翰市政府宣布不能再资助华人的春节庆祝活动。但这个消息不仅没有挫伤 大家的志气，反而使整个社区团结在一起，共同募集到筹办此次华人新春庆典所需的全 部资金。 I’d like to take a moment to thank members of the Chinese Festival Committee who have gone beyond the call of duty to raise funds, our partners Southside BID and The Arcadian and all those who have donated in some form.
