Organized and funded in the 1740s and 50’s by William Bull (the man who helped Oglethorpe plan the city of Savannah), the Old Sheldon Church sits peacefully on the side of an oak-lined road close to Beaufort, South Carolina. The church was burned by the British Army during the
Revolutionary War in 1779, and rebuilt from the remaining walls in 1826. The church suffered another fire in 1865 at the hands of the Federal Army. Amazingly enough, the original walls wouldn’t burn and the structure still stands today. Take a day trip to this breathtaking structure and have
