General Rules & Regulations
1. The 2021 AUTUMN DRESSAGE SHOW is sanctioned as a Bronze competition member of
Equestrian Canada, 11 Hines Rd., Suite 201, Ottawa, Ontario, K2K 2X1 and is governed by the rules of EC. (A602.1) 2. Every class offered herein is covered by the rules and specifications of the current rules of EC and will be held and judged in accordance with the EC Rule Book (A602.2). For all FEI classes the 2021 Tests will be used. FEI Para Equestrian will use current tests. All other classes will use the current EC/USEF National Tests. 3. As per Art. A801, every entry at an EC-sanctioned competition shall constitute an agreement by the person responsible that the owner, lessee, trainer, manager, agent, coach, driver or rider and horse shall be subject to the EC constitution and all rules of EC and any additional rules set by the competition. It is the responsibility of all individuals participating in any capacity in EC-sanctioned competitions to be knowledgeable regarding the EC constitution and the applicable rules of EC and the additional rules, if any, imposed by the competition. Do not participate in this EC-sanctioned competition in any capacity if you do not consent to be bound by the constitution and rules of EC and any additional rules imposed by the competition (A602.7). 4. Neither Southlands Riding Club (SRC) nor the Show Committee will be held responsible in any way for damage, injury or loss to persons, horses or property of spectators, owners, riders or grooms. 5. Safety Headgear - all riders, regardless of age or level or competition, must wear ASTM/

SEI or BSI/BS EN approved protective headgear at all times when mounted at any ECsanctioned Dressage competition at the event location. 6. Any horse entered in any class at a competition may be selected for equine medication control testing while at the event location (A602.5). All showing horses will be charged a $7.00 drug fee. 7. All riders must be current members of Equestrian Canada, Dressage Canada, and
HCBC or AEF. A Bronze license is required for Bronze shows or temporary sport license fees apply. Foreign competitors must be members of their National Equestrian Federation. 8. RING SIZE: All tests will be held in a 20x60 ring with the exception of FEI PE Grade 1, 2 and 3 which may be ridden in a 20 x 40 ring. Warm-up rings 20x60 or larger. Rings and ride-times available online Wednesday prior to show. 9. BIOSECURITY: Southlands Riding Club is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for all exhibitors and their horses. It is required to submit a vaccination certificate (invoice or veterinarian’s letter) per horse to the show office prior to receiving their competition number. All show participants are requested to practice good disease prevention practices. Travelling and showing horses are at an increased risk for contracting and spreading contagious diseases. All horses entering the show ground must not have been in contact with any sick horses within the last 15 days. Any horse that has been sick or exposed to an infectious disease within the last 15 days must have their attending veterinarian contact the Southlands Riding Club veterinarian prior to entry to the show grounds. All horses while on the show ground are expected to have their temperatures taken and recorded on a daily basis during the show.
. Please have temperature records available upon request. We ask that any horse with a rectal temperature above 38.5 C (101.8 F) be reported to show management and/or show veterinarian immediately. The show veterinarian will examine any horses with an elevated temperature or other signs of illness prior to being allowed to show. Any horse identified to have or is suspected of having a contagious disease will be removed to the isolation area. We ask that braiders/grooms/riders use the hand sanitizers, provided in the stall area after handling any horse. Please avoid any direct or indirect contact between horses, in particular nose to nose contact and use of any common feed/ drinking buckets. The early detection of any contagious disease is the key to prevention of a disease outbreak. Thanks for your cooperation. 10. Whips may be carried in all tests to a maximum length of 120cm (including lash) and
Ponies 100cm maximum length (including lash). Lunge whips are permitted only when lunging in designated area. (Subject to compensating aids for para dressage riders (E4.8.2, E6.11.3)). 11. Lunging is only permitted in the lunge rings located north of the indoor arena. Helmets
must be worn while lunging.
12. Callers are allowed in EC National level tests. Competitors must provide their own callers. 13. Legboots & bandage: are allowed in all classes. 14. The horse’s competition number must be worn at all times while on SRC property and while outside of stall. 15. Dogs must be leashed and under control at all times, if found off leash owners are subject to a fine. All dog owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs. 16. SCHOOLING HORSE ENTRIES: permitted for the duration of the competition. Must pay the Haul In fee of $25 + GST per day. All EC rules and show fees are applicable (except
EC Sport Licence, Drug testing fee and levy fees not required). Schooling horse entries must complete all entry forms and be received prior to the closing date to avoid late fees. Schooling horse will be assigned an entry number which must be worn at all times when outside of stall and on the competition grounds. Competing horses will be given priority for stabling. Non-competing horses may attend with payment of the haul in fee, admin fee and stabling if required. 17. Hors concours rides are allowed at the discretion of the show manager and show committee. 18. Schooling of horses may be done only by the competing athlete. With the exception of Grade I, II and III Classified Para-Dressage athletes (A6.10.1.1). 19. All prize money will be paid in Canadian funds and will be applied against outstanding show balances with residual issued to the horse owner within 30 days of the competition. 20. Substitution: With a Veterinarian’s certificate, a new horse may be substituted for a scratched horse. There will be a $25 substitution fee and all monies will be transferred to the new horse.
1. Entries close ON WEDNESDAY September 22nd AT 5PM. Entries received after closing date are subject to post-entry fees. 2. One horse/rider per entry form. 3. Entries must be completed online by registering at competeeasy.com. 4. All horses attending an Equestrian Canada sanctioned competition must have met the requirements of Article A519, Vaccinations. See Rules of Equestrian Canada,
Sanction A, General Regulations, Article A519, Vaccinations. (A602.8) A vaccination record, invoice or other must be included with the online entry form (PDF, JPED, PNG file accepted.) 5. All competitors must sign the waivers online. 6. Entry confirmations will be emailed automatically by COMPETEEASY when entry is completed. Any change in an entry after closing date, will be charged $10 per change. 7. The Show Committee and SRC management reserve the right to limit the number of entries and/or refuse any entry(A805.2(c) for Championship classes); split, cancel or combine and/or adjust classes or awards; govern all conditions of the show; and make decisions upon any matters not covered by current FEI and or EC rules. 8. Times will be available on Wednesday before the show on our website – www. southlandsridingclub.com. 9. The show will try to accommodate each horse rider combination as best as possible to allow for suitable warm up time for all tests a rider has entered. A minimum of 30 minutes between start of ride times will be scheduled if and where possible. In cases where this is not feasible in the ride schedule, affected riders will be given the option of accepting the available ride time or being removed from the class and refunded the class fee.
CLASS RULES
1. Classes may be scheduled at any time on the day listed in the class schedule. Ride times will only be changed in the case of error, overlapping times, or to facilitate the running of the show. 2. Each horse is limited to a maximum of four (4) tests per day in Training and First Level
and a maximum of three (3) test per day for Second level and higher.
3. Scratches must notify the Show Office. 4. Only one test of choice per class may be entered in all Test of Choice (ToC) classes.
ToC classes are awarded on total percentages for all tests. 5. Classes will be split (AA/JR/O) if more than five (5) entries per split. They will otherwise run as Open classes. 6. FREESTYLE CLASS: Music will be only accepted in the CD format. Music must be provided to the Show office prior to the day of the show. Sound check will take place on Friday
Evening or Saturday morning prior to show start. Time will be publish in the show office.
1. Prior to closing date, all fees will be refunded exempt administration fee. After closing date, 50% of class fees will be refunded with a veterinarian/physician certificate; stabling and administration fees will not be refunded. A veterinarian/physician certificate must be presented 24 hours PRIOR to the start of the show for any fees to be refunded. 2. Post Entry Fees of $40.00 + GST per entry will be added to any entries received after the closing date. Post entries will only be accepted if space is available. 3. Entries received prior to the closing date, after the competition is full, will be put on a waiting list. They will not be subject to post entry fees if/when they are accepted into the show. If the competitor does not wish to be on a waiting list or does not get into the show, all entry fees will be refunded.
STABLING
1. Limited portable stabling will be available on the competition grounds. Stalls will be available on the day prior to the event until two hours following the end of event for a fee of $130.00+GST (3 bags of shavings provided), and are assigned to rider/ horse. Payment for stalls must accompany entries and is non-refundable once stalls are assigned. Additional days are available at $35.00 + GST/day and $50.00 + GST overnight and must be indicated on the entry form. 2. To ensure stabling as a group, please state with whom you wish to be stabled on your entry form. 3. Additional shavings will be available for purchase on the grounds at a cost of $8.50/ bag + GST. 4. CLEAN-OUT DEPOSIT: A $35.00 (incl. GST) stall clean out deposit is required for all stabled horses. This deposit will be charged and then refunded if the stall assigned is stripped clean prior to the exhibitor leaving the show grounds. 5. Tack stalls may be available at the rate of $100.00 + GST. Tack stalls must be reserved and indicated on entry form. 6. Stall charts will be posted in stabling areas. Please note that stabling is assigned and any changes must be approved by the Competition Manager.
PHOTOGRAPHIC/VIDEO IMAGE RELEASE
The competitor understands that SRC will be gathering photographic and video images and recordings during this event, which images and recordings may include the competitor. The competitor agrees that those images and recordings are the sole and exclusive property of SRC and hereby consent to SRC’s release and reproduction of all photographic and video images, recordings and likenesses taken during its events for future promotional or commercial purposes, without any notice or compensation to the competitor.
