Runners, walkers rise to the Challenge THE Arthurs Seat Challenge on Sunday 11 November promoted the profile of the Fit to Drive program and to raise funds for it to continue. The number of entrants in the annual 6.7km fun run and walk was greater than expected at nearly 1300. Organisers said the cool weather was perfect for those who rose to the challenge of walking or running from

near Rosebud Primary School to the top of Arthurs Seat and finishing at Seawinds Gardens. The first-time male winner was Jake Stevens with a time of 0.27.35. The female winner was reigning champion Bec Rosel, in 0.30.07. The largest school entry was Mt Eliza Secondary College and the fastest school was Padua College. For the

second year in a row Team Lyndon took out the award for largest community team. Challenge Ambassador Steve Bastoni joined in for his first attempt, taking an hour to finish. His goal is to beat that time next year. Funds raised from the Challenge go to the Fit-to-Drive program for schools in Frankston and on the

Mornington Peninsula. This removes any financial burden and ensures all Year 11 students have access to this best practice and road safety program. The Challenge is made possible by support from sponsors, businesses, schools, community groups, and volunteers. Ongoing support was provided by major partners BlueScope Western Port, Your Community

Bank Dromana/Rye/Rosebud, and Mornington Peninsula News Group, as well as newcomers Spicy Web. More information about the Fit-toDrive program can be found at f2d. com.au For further information about the Arthurs Seat Challenge go to arthursseatchallenge.com.au
