The Whitewater Passenger Depot is home to the Whitewater Historical Society and has been serving as a local history museum since 1974. The depot is a local Whitewater Landmark and is listed in the State and National Registers of Historic Places.
The main gallery features Whitewater’s history as told through artifacts dating all the way back to 1837. Artifacts are rotated in and out of exhibits, so no two visits are the same.
Hours are 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesdays during the city market, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesdays, and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Whitewater Effigy Mounds Preserve
On the west side of town, there lies a preserve where 30 Native American huts once stood. These huts were constructed and standing between 200 AD and 1200 AD.
Prairie Tillers Mural
On the corner of Center and Whitewater Street you’ll find our gorgeous Prairie Tillers Mural by artist Caryl Yasko. Caryl created the mural as a tribute to the Kettle Moraine in 1980.
The mural showcases the courage and perseverance of Whitewater’s founders as well as our beautiful rolling hills and prairies held sacred by Native Americans. The figures on the right represent people from the tribal era, early settlers, and the people of today. The figures on the left represent the future and how what we do today influences what is to come.
Flowing Well
Visitors come from miles around to quench their thirst at the refreshing artesian well located two miles south on Clover Valley Road in the town of Whitewater. The water is free and has been flowing steadily since 1895.
Whitewater Historical Walking & Driving Tours
To explore the history of Whitewater, pick up a detailed map of the town at the Chamber office. With these self-tour maps, you can revel in the Whitewater architecture of the late 1800s and transport yourself back in time. Take in the scenery as you travel the rustic roads in our area.
Rotary Skate Park
Located at the Brewery Hill Park, the Rotary Skate Park offers a three ramp structure on a 62’ x 145’ concrete pad for skaters and bicyclists.
War Memorials Whitewater features three war memorials.

May through October – Whitewater Farmers Market, Saturdays, 8 a.m. to noon in the Municipal Lot at 301 W. Whitewater Street.
May through October – Whitewater City Market, Tuesdays, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Historic Train Depot 301 W. Whitewater St.
November through April – Indoor Whitewater City Market, Saturdays, 9 a.m. to noon in the Community Room of Ivrin L Young Memorial Library
Lake Draw Down
Summer 2019 to Spring 2021
The drawdown of Cravath and Trippe Lakes began on July 8, 2019. The drawdown continues throughout 2020.
The dredging project is anticipated to begin the winter of 2020-21.
Lakes remain drawn down throughout this time frame. Lakes to be refilled in the spring of 2021.

Construction Update
Highway 59 reconstruction from Newcomb to Bluff Road roundabout will cause closures March through May 2020.
Highway 59 reconstruction from Bluff Road Roundabout to Highway 12 anticipated construction beginning April 1, 2020, with scheduled completion July 21, 2020.
