It’s snow-tacular! Lake Geneva’s Winterfest set to heat up the season

ake Geneva’s popular Winterfest is locked in for a five-day run from Jan. 29 through Feb. 2. Winterfest is dedicated to art, winter and fun, and features many winter-themed events taking place in the picturesque resort city, according to organizers. The major highlight of Winterfest is the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Championship. Fifteen teams of snow sculptors and artists from all around the United States compete for a national title. Winterfest attendees can watch how the huge snow blocks are transformed into masterpieces with simple hand tools. The downtown lakefront area near Riviera and Flat Iron parks serves as the hub for the snow sculpting competition. Afterwards, visitors can watch the presentation of U.S. National Snow SPIRIT of GENEVA LAKES

Sculpting Championship Award, and the Peoples Choice Award presentation at the Riviera hall. Other Winterfest attractions include a hovercraft competition with rides, Ice Castles (see separate story), human dog sled races, magic shows, and helicopter rides. There is live entertainment and the Ice Bar in the evenings. For up-to-date information on Winterfest see visitlakegeneva.com.
