of butterflies. They are truly fascinating creatures with the ability to inspire youth to care more about preserving our natural world and the mysteries within. We are super excited to pull together these six mornings of fun, interactive activities to highlight the beautiful Monarch butterfly,” says Jackie de Batista, 4-H Youth Development Educator. During this series, participants will gain knowledge of butterfly habitats, butterfly behaviors, and gardening to encourage butterfly populations. This will be a handson series in which participants will raise Monarch butterflies from eggs in our very own butterfly house. Participants will watch their development and will also learn to tag butterflies in preparation for their migration to Mexico. Other activities will include planting, painting, a field trip to Wapello Nature Area, making a pinata, sombreros, morph puppets, playing games, and learning to make recyclable pots. To end the series, participants will have a lunch and tag and release party for

the butterflies. Participants can register for three sessions of their choice for only $15 or they can attend all six sessions for $25. Each session will meet from 9-11:30 a.m. at the Jo Daviess County Extension Office located at 204 Vine St., Elizabeth, IL. Pre-Registration is required and spots are limited.
