On the morning of Friday, Aug. 2, the Independent learned that State Senator Thomas E. Cullerton (D-Villa Park) had been charged with 40 counts of embezzlement relating to a position he held with the Teamsters Joint Council #25. About the indictment The indictment alleges that after his election to the State Senate in November of 2012, Cullerton was terminated from his company and was therefore, no longer eligible to participate in the Teamsters Local Union 734 Health and Welfare Fund.
