A MESSAGE FROM THE FOUNDER

It has been one amazing year. We were able to accomplish quite a bit. Including our six Episode Women Live!TV and Media Series, now available on Amazon TV and Fire TV, as well as all other streaming platforms. A huge thank you to our 2021 Media Sponsors for taking a chance and supporting our vision, which allowed us to support many other women in business. Those 2021 Sponsors were Sherry DeVouse-Dennard of State Farm Insurance and Kim Mays of State Farm. For 2022 we have a larger commitment of sponsors from Sylvia Wray of the Alzheimer’s Services Center, Tyronica Carter of Radiant Styles, Sharon Ponder of Xtreme Fun on Wheels, Sherry DeVouseDennard of State Farm, and Kim Mays of State Farm.

In 2021 we hosted our First Celebrity Golf Tournament, published two editions of our Southern Crescent Women In Business Magazine, held our 1st Annual Women In Business Awards, held countless hours of trainings and mentoring meetings, went into our 1st Women’s Business Center, held our 2nd Annual Chairwomen’s Empowerment Luncheon and more. With all these accomplishments, we still feel there is more work that needs to be done.

This needed work may require us to increase our travel and footprint inside and outside the state of Georgia. Access to capital for female entrepreneurs is still an area that we want to increase. We are exploring partnerships and creative ways to assist in the realm of funding women owned businesses in very creative ways. Stay tuned for more in this area.

Women in business and female entrepreneurship is still the fastest growing sector of entrepreneurs in the United States. According to sources, “40% of US businesses are women-owned. Women started 1,821 net new businesses every day last year. 64% of new women-owned businesses were started by women of color last year. Latina womenowned businesses grew more than 87%. ” When women have a solid network and mentoring, it vastly accelerates their trajectory to success. Southern Crescent Women In Business has successfully fill this gap, in what we call the Southern Crescent area.

In addition to women in business, women are leading in running for political office or appointed positions. We believe that women deserve more seats at the table and we are willing to support qualified individuals, who are willing to take that leap of faith and serve their respective communities.

Advocacy, Education, Funding, Support, and Empowering women in business across the South Metro is what Southern Crescent Women In Business has done and will continue to do. Remember that it takes all of this to move this mission forward. Be sure to join us on this journey.

Yours In Service, Ariel Shaw, MBA
