Gatey Youth and Volunteers Honored

On Saturday evening, February 25, the Gate of Heaven CYO youth program held its annual fundraiser at the Gate of Heaven Church. The Reverend Paul V. Donovan Catholic Youth Award recipients were Maggie Hart and Matthew Hogan. Maggie attends the Winsor
School in Boston and Matt is a student at Archbishop Williams High School which is located in Braintree. Both have been associated with the Gate of Heaven CYO basketball program since they were knee high to grasshoppers. They have played as well as volunteered their time to the program throughout their young lives. Longtime volunteer and can-do guy Albert Florentino
was this year’s recipient of the Jack McDonough Award for his “untiring efforts on behalf of the youth of South Boston.” And, finally, for her tireless efforts on behalf of Gate of Heaven, the Reverend A. Paul White Woman of the Year Award was presented to Patricia Strumm. It was a nice to come together to honor these deserving individuals and to just simply
relax with family and friends. “It was a great evening,” said Gate of Heaven CYO Athletic Director, Kevin Lally. “The award winners have given so much of their time and energy to Gate of Heaven and they deserve to be acknowledged for their unselfish deeds. I always look forward to this event and look forward to many more in the future.”
