Dale Clayton, the 2005 recipient of the FCA’s John Lotz Barnabas Award, will enter his 22nd season at the helm of the Carson-Newman Eagles basketball program. The 2002 South Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year and NABC Regional Coach of the Year, Clayton is the winningest coach in the history of Carson-Newman basketball. Coach Clayton led the Eagles to one of the best seasons in school history in Dale Clayton 2001-02. The Eagles Year By Year went 26-5, won the 1988-89 Carson-Newman 14-15 .483 SAC regular season and 1989-90 Carson-Newman 15-15 .500 tournament champion- 1990-91 Carson-Newman 15-14 .517 ships and advanced to 1991-92 Carson-Newman 11-17 .393 the NCAA Division II 1992-93 Carson-Newman 8-18 .308 1993-94 Carson-Newman 16-14 .533 Sweet 16.
