We welcome Clanfield 85 to the BHP ground today.
It will be a tough game today seeing how they are sitting pretty high up in the league so we must be on our A game today.
Any team could come to Southam and if we play how I know we can play we believe we can beat anyone. This team just improves and improves each week, and the team spirit just gets better and better.
Last week’s game against Cirencester, who’d had recent bad results before this game, came in sitting bottom of the league. It can be so dangerous to play teams like that as all the time opposing teams will underestimate them, and we did just that, going behind 1-0 down. However, we pushed and pushed and fought back into the game, and in the end we opened them up with an 80th minute equaliser and then a last ditch 92nd minute winner! I’m very pleased with the reaction and picking up the three points, which we needed to move us up the table.
Onto the midweek cup fixture. It was horrendous travel all the way over to Smethwick on a Wednesday evening! Preparation wasn’t great but, ultimately, out of our hands. It showed as we fell 2-0 down in the first 15 minutes. We regained our composure and threw everything at them, dominating the rest of the game, but just couldn’t put the ball in the back of the net. So we lost 2-0 but taking all the positives away with a great performance and players coming in who hadn’t started for us in a while. We played well. We did pick up some injuries in the game and hopefully they will be back fit and playing soon.
We now focus back on the league today and feel its a must win 3 points to show other teams we are here to compete and want move as far up the table as possible! The games are coming thick and fast so be ready to come and check our results and come support all of us at Southam!
Enjoy our hospitality, food and drink and thanks for your support!
