I would like to extend a warm welcome to the Staff, players and committee of Clanfield for todays Hellenic Division 1 league game at BHP.

Our visitors are flying high and look like genuine title/ promotion contenders. We have come along way but today’s game is another acid test for how far we have come in our Hellenic league campaign.

It’s another crazy period with games coming thick and fast. Last Saturday we played our get-out-of-jail-free card to turn the game around against Cirencester Dev. Credit to Cirencester on the day as they made it very difficult for us. We simply went too direct thinking they would crumble and played without any real quality until the final 25-30 minutes.

Football is a squad game and the subs made a real impact. We played with much better quality and tempo that then saw us create a bucket full of chances to come from behind and win the game.

Credit again to the players because we dug deep and again showed great character to score another 2 late goals. We are playing to the final whistle and our fitness levels are coming into their own late in games.

Wednesday saw us travel to Oldbury in the black country. It was a nightmare journey midweek that saw most of the squad including myself arrive not long before KO.

No doubt the preparation and travel was the main factor in conceding 2 early goals. However our reaction was superb. Second half we completely dominated the game but again we lacked a cutting edge. For us to push on we need to be more consistent in both boxes. Doing the basics defensively and scoring goals at key moments in games.

We have shown great progress whilst finding our feet back at step 6. If we click more consistently in key areas we will continue to make great strides

Enjoy the game
