Our Inspiration Ernst Chladni (1756 – 1827) was a German physicist and musician. His most important work for which he has been labelled the “father of acoustics” included development of a technique to study the motions of vibrating plates. The Source Mondial Frequency Collection is inspired by the Chladni plate experiment, whereby grains of salt are vibrated on a square plate. At certain frequencies, the randomly sprinkled salt organises itself into beautiful graphic patterns. THE TEAM AT SOURCE MONDIAL

Chladni Figures The emerging patterns, known as Chladni figures, have been translated by Source Mondial into the Frequency Collection of handmade rugs. Available in either wool and art silk or pure wool, this collection is quite simply a demonstration of the transcendental beauty, complexity and wonder of nature.
“If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration. Nikola Tesla
